I received a call early this morning from my son.  He is in the hospital.  They are still running tests.   The last thing I heard was that the surgeon was coming in to talk to him.  My son sounds okay.  He said even though he was almost done with P week.  He has to redo P week.  He is not real happy about that.  I asked him where his head was and he is ready to get back to boot camp and get it done.  For what it's worth he said the food was good and the worst part is the beginning of P week. At the end of P week they started to calm down a bit.  Just not sure what is going to happen.

So sorry to hear about your son CeCe!  My prayers are with him and you!

CeCe, my son just went through the same thing last week, his first week of BT. He stayed in the hospital for 2 1/2 days. I spoke with 2 different ears and although their diagnosis was similar they were so very different. One told me he had 1 bulging disc and one herniated disc. Orthopedic dr said there were no herniations. He was placed on light duty although public affairs told me he had been returned to his division. He saw Navy dr on base today and he told our son that he will more than likely be discharged due to his back issues. He told us he hadn't complained about back pain, just thigh pain. Who knows what he actually said. After all he is still a kid and will say whatever you want to hear. Anyway good luck. I feel your pain .
Hey Chippersmom, thanks for the support. My so is still waiting to see the surgeon and he has not eaten in 2 days. They will not let him eat until he sees the surgeon. His father called and talked to someone, but they just told us what our son said. Very frustrating.
Thanks Everyone for the support and good thoughts. It means a lot right now.
CeCe , I have contacted recruiter for guidance. Although he has no control over anything at BT he can at least give me some insight. It looks like my son will be coming home, but we are gonna do what we can get him back in.

I left info for you on your My Page.

Chippersmom, we're you able to talk with him? My son is able to talk to me because he is in a hospital room, but knows nothing. I hate waiting, but what can you do. I hope my son isn't discharged. I am sorry you have to go through the process of getting him back in again. That stinks. I am like you I would try to get him back in too.

CeCe - I don't know how I missed this, expect to say I seem to missing a lot this week.  I am so sorry to hear about your son and I pray it's nothing serious.  I also pray it doesn't change his goals.  Any updates?

Any word from your son? Mine called today from the legal office. . He HSS been on Ship 5 since Saturday and was told he would be going home. He signed waivers today so I can get all information . I would start with Public Affairs office to try to figure out where he is. Good luck. I feel your pain and fear.

Hey Chippersmom,  I heard from my son today.  He has been cleared to go back to boot camp, but he has to do light duty for a week.  I have no idea what that means for him.  He says he feels fine and ready to do boot camp.  The surgeon said that he just had oxygen build up on the outside of his lungs which could be from flying there.  This seems odd since he flies every year to N.J. I guess it's one of those things.  I just hope he doesn't get sent home.

But he doesn't fly on so much anxiety, go through physical and mental strain, and do it all on little sleep while being yelled at.  Well, my son did some of that while being yelled at, by what can I say...anyway...I bet this flight and the time after was a bit different than a trip to NJ.  I'm just so happy he's going to be OK.

Hey Ginny, Thank you for your concern.  I just posted his update to Chippersmom.  I think it goes out to everyone in this group.  In a nutshell he just got cleared to go back to boot camp, but he has to do light duty for a week.  I have no idea what this means for him. His spirits are up and just wants to get on with it.  I hope he doesn't get sent home.
