Hi ladies, my daughter just got her verbal orders yesterday. I know they can change between now and when she gets her hard copy orders. She is assigned to TACRON 21, does anybody have info on this unit. My husband and I are trying to find out as much as we can about this. I know she will be working with the marines. Thank you for any help you can provide me with.

My daughter had PIR on 8/22, last week was indoc for the base. Yesterday was indoc for her OS class and today is her first day of class. We thought it was 12 weeks, but she said that the last day of class is October 28.

Seems to me it was around 8 weeks.  Others can confirm.  Mine graduated in June a year ago from bootcamp and finished school in August.

Hi, my son just went through PIR on 8/29. We had a great weekend with him.  He said his OS schooling is on hold.  Does anyone know how long the schooling is?  I have read different things.

My daughter told me she had bad news for me, I thought she broke her arm or something like that. She might not be able to come home on Sundays, she thinks it is one of her duty days. I told her that it was ok and that it is not bad news. If she does not have duty on Monday we might go visit her for a few hours, or if she can we will bring her home for the day. I couldn't ask her tonight. I got a short text from her telling me we can't chat because she has duty today. I guess I can't say good night to her. Her big brother called on Saturday and they had so much fun talking to each other. She told him that the race has now started to see who makes officer first.

I also have another question my daughter was asked to be in the leadership program. Does anyone know what this may consist of?
All this is new to me so I am trying to learn as I go

They can get passes to go off base later on, but it will probably have restrictions as to how far they can go.  But they will not be coming home more than likely.  They will still have watches and jobs to do.  They may get to come home after school - especially if they are going overseas for their assignment.  Mine went to Japan and was home for 5 weeks before he went.  But I'm having trouble remembering if those who did not go overseas got to come home for a bit.  I think so.  But not 5 weeks.  More like 2 if they do.  My suggestion is that if you live close enough, that you go there and visit and stay at Navy Lodge over the holiday.

nancyf, when did your daughter get there? My daughter just got there Friday. I'm hoping for a couple weeks hold, just enough so that her class ends and she can be home for Christmas.
