OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

For those joining the FB groups too, please stay on this one as well!

Liv:  No, they would not hold out the form letter because of her wisdom teeth extraction.  Just know that it can take sometimes up to 2 weeks or longer to receive this for some.  But, yes, they can only send out one, so ask her if she sent it to someone else?  She cannot send another one.  No worries if it doesn't arrive....we can fill in the info for you here.  But she would need to give you the password that she wrote in there....for your gate pass (to drive on base).  No one else can give you that.

Good Morning and welcome to the new members!

Welcome Liv_Moni's Mom

You should have received the form letter.  Is there someone else she may have sent it to?  If not I would write her and ask.  Yes that ship # and division are for PIR 10/10  I have met several families with SRs in that division.   If you are on FB

https://www.facebook.com/groups/736423089761460/ is a group for our PIR
