DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Just heard from my son.  He is doing great.  He has not taken the swim test yet because he is on light duty due to being in the hospital last week.  He sounds strong and ready to go.  I am just glad they let him back in his div. 327 instead of holding him back.  Feel like he caught a break.  He will be using next week to catch up on things that he missed.  I was a worried mom last week.  Feeling much better now.

Kat, most of the hotels have the complimentary breakfast, served earlier on PIR Day, and Sarge's shuttle is only $3/pp each way.

Comment by diannep on August 30, 2014 at 10:57am

Kat:  You get the airlines gate passes from the ticket counter when you arrive there to meet up with your sailor.  Just have ID with you.

Please read TripAdvisor reviews on Ramada....we get very mixed reports on here.  Not in a great area, I was told by someone who works at the GL A School.  Courtyard/Springhill Suites/Holiday Inn Express/Residence Inn may be better choices for you (call and ask for Navy Grad rate....call hotel directly).  There are others in the area too, but not too much feedback on this site about them.

Good Morning!

Just spoke to my son. It was great to hear his voice. He said he passed his swim test and will be mailing letters sunday. He said he can't wait until October either.

My son is going to Pcola as well for A school! I really want to be with him at the airport for a while and I'm wondering if someone can help with info on how we get gate passes and such so we can be with him?

Anyone have feedback on the Ramada? I didn't know about the Lodge and booked already. They have a shuttle and complimentary breakfast so I thought that was good for $84.99 -2 queen beds. Or sould i look into the lodge?
