Congrats Nuke ELT on winning the guessing game!  You are going to LOVE the little figurines.  They are absolutely adorable! Thanks to CO-twin for offering them up as a prize.

We had an AMAZING weekend with our brand new Sailor. We took the train into Chicago and took in some of the sites with our son and then met him at the airport at o'dark thirty on Saturday morning.  It was tough to say "See Ya Later" again after just getting to see him again, but it was a tiny bit easier this time than it was when he left for BC.  He is LOVIN' being in GC already and made the typical stop at Best Buy on the same day he arrived to pick up a tablet that he had been wanting to buy for some time.  The heat and humidity is a bit difficult for him to adjust to, but I'm sure he'll get used to it eventually.  His roommate just graduated A-school and is starting leave so he's had the room to himself most of the weekend.  INDOC starts today.  Looking forward to hearing from him about his next steps.

Had to share the exciting news! My son texted me late last night, he just passed his oral boards and is now a qualified nuclear operator! I am so proud of him as this week marks a year since he's been in BS. With all the delays they have all had to endure, he never complained or gave up! So very proud of him, 2 1/2 years this journey has been! Now awaiting his orders, hopefully he gets his first choices, wants to go Fast Attack Subs. So very happy and proud of him!

Sportykr- I use to live in Forest Hill. Bel Air was my go to town for shopping. I loved that every thing was within just a mile or so. Plus my kids, Sailor being one of them, loved going to the park that had the all wood play ground. Can't recall what the name was. That's great that your Sailor is coming home for a visit. Enjoy your time together and give him lots of hugs from all of us.
Co-TwinSalorsMom- love love love them. So cute! Now I can't wait for the next contest.
I spoke to my son last night. He's on the early shift this week. Said that normally this shift, "sucks" because it's tough to get his points in. However, he's only three days into the week and he's gotten all of the required points plus more. He has the 50% exam this week. His two room mates finally classed up on MARF. I assume the plant is operational finally. He also said that he has no idea where they're putting the new PS graduates. That there are still many up there that are waiting to move forward.
Hope you had a great holiday weekend.

Oh lucky you, a sailor visit. Enjoy your son. We do live for those visits don't we?

britefuture-we live in Bel Air and yes our Sailor's stuff is still around the house, his room is pretty much how he left it, except we did use some area to store (or should I say "stow") some of our stuff. Guess my food bill will be higher next week. Don't care, will be happy he is home!

Good morning all. Happy Labor Day.

sportykr - where in Maryland are you? I'm in Westminster. My Sailor is in BS, half way through Prototype. That first year is brutal on families. And yes mine changed too. But, don't worry, our sons/daughters are still there, just matured. Well some what! Lol

Comment by Joniana (Helen) on September 1, 2014 at 12:32am

sportykr -- don't worry, our son came home last Friday for the first time since October 2013.  Yes, he's changed, but his stuff is still all over the house!  He still just drops it wherever ...  Still nice having him here, though!
