Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ahhh, gretamae.  So hard but I believe you did the right thing to not trash their dad to them and tell them to forget the past.  What goes around, comes around.   My sister was married to a demanding man....4 sons.....he tried the same thing with them, but now, none have much to do with him.  I hope that your SR doesn't worry about this.....maybe it will be fine with your son to give his dad the next call, maybe even make it short, so he has time to call you?  You never know!

Thanks Flamingoose, That helps a lot.

Today is 3-1:

WEEK 4:  LIVE FIRE

If you’ve never fired a weapon before you’ll get your chance in week 4.  You will have the opportunity to train with the M-16 and a 12-gauge shotgun. When you’ve proven you know how to properly use both, you’ll move to the live-fire range. Graduation pictures are this week as well as an academic test on everything you’ve learned to date.

Can I vent???? My day just went downhill. My ex just called. He explained to me that he wrote to my (our) son and put his business card in his letter and told him he expected the next phone call especially since he didn't make the cut to be invited to graduation..... Ummmmmm excuse me where the hell have you been the last 18 years?????? But I have taught my boys to love their dad and forget the past ( oh how I'm kicking myself right now). So I know next call won't come to me and I'm sad because last call his brothers talked

Just wondering if anyone knows what 11/330 are doing this week? Or for that matter last week? Haven't had a chance to talk to SR and haven't received a letter.

Ladies:  A reminder that we are not allowed to post the last names of SRs on this site.  If you did, please copy/paste your comment with initials instead and delete your original.  Thanks!

Since I am a g-shock novice I asked advice from several of my more "experienced" friends and they indicated unless there is true need for all of the extra features that starting with the 120-160 dollar range would do for now. However, depending on what they are doing for A school it might be a great gift for that graduation to upgrade. I reviewed the feedback on the link below and found it very helpful.
