Good Morning Ladies!

candirad - sorry your son didn't get the orders he wanted but I hope he'll be very happy with his assignment.  So cool that he'll be "home".  The holidays will be awesome for you! Happy for ya!!!

BeachBunny - sounds like your sailor is keeping busy.  I've heard it's really cool to get to land on a carrier.  When my son went to Japan he was hoping his carrier would be out at sea so he'd have to get flown out but no such luck.  My son has a friend that he went to A & C school with on the Vinson and I know the Vinson is involved with the Geo Washington (the carrier my son is on) for a training exercise right now.  The chances of him meeting up with his friend are very slim but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the two ships might pull into the same port at the same time!  LOL It will take a lot of crossed fingers for that to happen!

Yep, wrap those packages tight!  My son told me if I'm in doubt just throw it down the stairs and see if it holds up.  He says it will get thrown a lot before it reaches him!

Have an awesome day ladies!

HA HA HA - I will tell him.  He was not real happy because all the others got what they asked for.  There is not much of an adventure there, but he realizes it's a good skill that he will be mastering.  That's probably why they didn't post the two their orders at the same time.  The other sailor did not get what he requested either.

Hello Moms!

My son will be done with A-School the end of this month.  Everyone got their orders but two, and he was one of them.  When he did get his orders, it was not what he wanted, but he will be fine.  I am thrilled however; he is doing his C-School in Lemoore, CA which is where we are from!!  He will be here through the holidays and then through March.  :)  Then he is off to Fallon, NV.  I work in a company that is aircraft-related and everyone says he will be doing something that can be utilized in the civilian world as well.  So, I am happy and Fallon is not too far away for ole' ma to travel!

Thanks joshmom.....My AT just got back from RIMPAC on the Reagan then was sent out to the Vinson a couple of weeks ago...he got to land on the carrier! Yes, really sad times right now, everyone has hoping for a different outcome...but sailors did get several pallets load of mail yesterday. After seeing those pictures, am taping my package with 2 rolls of tape and not one roll...

Yes, yes...love football season!!! Hope they show games on the carrier...:)

BeachBunny - how wonderful to see you on here again! Unfortunately this group has gotten very quiet. Just not very chatty anymore. How are things with you and your sailor? My sailor is currently out at sea and my youngen....well you know what time of year it is.....football!!! Yeah!

I see you have the USS Carl Vinson on your pic. Such a tragedy last week. My heart aches for the family and for all those sailors on that ship. So heart breaking to lose one of their own. My prayers have been with them all.

joshmom - Very happy that you rec'd a phone call from your son!  I was very excited to have an email yesterday!

Since this is my son's first deployment, I have a few questions for you veteran Moms.

My son put his cell phone on hold, so how do the sailors "call" home when on International deployment?  I've looked for calling cards in US, only to find they are for calling out of US.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great day!

Welcome to Monday ladies!

I got a phone call from my sailor this weekend - YEAH ME!!! He's in port and enjoying a little down time.

Candirad - how much longer does your son have in school? Sorry I lose track of time!  Be sure to let us know when he graduates and when he gets orders....can't wait to find out where he'll be going.  Got my fingers crossed he'll get what he wants.

Have a Great Week Everyone!

Hi Ladies:  I do not have much to report from Central California.  My son is still in A-School in Pensacola.  I love reading everyone's updates and can feel your proudness in your posts.  Great job!
