For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Not sure what to do
Hi I am new to this. My son arrived on Tuesday. And I will be traveling alone, I am worried. My husband has to work we can't afford for us both to go. Should I rent a car and drive to the grad or should I take the hotel shudal? What hotel do should I stay in?

See Saving Money PIR Weekend and PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend. Having a rental car will give you more freedom and may be less expensive than using shuttles and taxis, but you will have to decide what is best for you.

Connect with other moms on here and on the fb page and I'm sure you'll have other mom's to connect with when you attend PIR. Several families connected at Navy Lodge. People drove together to the PIR and to Sarge's Meet and Greet. It's a nice place for a good price.

My son shipped on Tuesday also and I will be going to PIR. Not sure where we are staying yet but if we end up at the same hotel we will have a car. We are driving from Houston, less expensive than airfare for 3.

Hi there Aliecat. Only you can decide what is best for your situation. Personally, even though we will have a car rental, we are going to take Sarge's shuttle to PIR to avoid sitting in that crazy line getting through all the security for each vehicle. As far as hotel, decide what price range you want to stay in and then we can probably make some suggestions. What would your maximum nightly rate you would be comfortable with?

Hey Aliecat. There are so many places to stay in that area. I rented a car for my sons graduation but y sounds like we could have really just have rode the train. We will have so many bags since I have to take clothes to my son since his A school will be in GL. On this site there is a list of hotels and if you mention you are coming for graduation they will also give discount. Good luck!

Aliecat64. My son arrived at RTC this past Tuesday also. It's been a few days on the emotional coaster. We are planning to drive up to PIR and hopefully stay at Navy Lodge. Where are you driving from? Good luck finding what works best for you.

Hi Aliecat64 My son arrived Monday night. Just my luck, I missed the "I arrived" call...I much like Vicky have been emotional. Just the not knowing. The not knowing how his day is going, if he's having a hard time or if this is exactly what he expected and wanted... Geeez, cant wait to get a phone call or letter!

You don't have to wait the lines...read the links lemonelephant posted for you with traveling to PIR tips...there's tips on how to avoid the line...loved having the freedom of our own car as it was cold!! Sat in the heater while sailor had to go back to their ship and move things before being released to us....
