OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Boot Camp starting September 16 Any Others
My daughter just left for boot camp on September 16, just wondering if there are any other moms that have sons or daughters that left the same day. I am trying to network with some other moms as we go through this unknown situation. I have so many mixed emotions going on....I am PROUD, sad, terrified and most of all upset that I can not help my daughter through the tough times that lie before her. If anyone else has kids that just left for boot camp, please connect with me.

Hi Cheryl my daughter also started bootcamp the 16th! I guess I'm not the only mom sad,terrified & Proud! It still feels surreal .... It's killing me that I don't know how she is doing..I wonder if she is scared,homesick...ect...and it's only been a day!its going to be along 9 weeks.we are from NY..where did your daughter leave from ?

Cheryl, I as well have a son that left for boot camp last night. Got our script call last night/this morning at 12:01 that lasted 40 seconds.

My daughter also started bootcamp on the 15th/16th. Got that scripted call myself...60 seconds...could hear the stress in her voice. It's funny having been thru bootcamp myself I know a little of what to expect however... It sure is different when it's your child! The only one to boot!! I am certainly going thru the emotions that is for sure! Crying one minute and not the next but this is normal when kids leave home! I am so excited for my daughter!!! Beyond PROUD.

My son called from Chicago about an hour and a half ago. Said he was getting ready to leave for GL. If his cell phone dies is there a pay phone he can call from? ( do they even make those)?

From what I have read there are no pay phones,but many of the other recruits wills allow someone to use there phone.

Wow....it is great to see all the responses, I feel like I am a little more connected to what my daughter is going through by this network...I was quite blessed, she was allowed to text me from the airport and when she landed...but that was my last communication until the scripted call..which only lasted about 20 seconds (my daughter is a fast reader)..I only had time for "hello" and "I love you"
My husband found a website: http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433 this website gives a glimpse of what they are going through...its a day by day/week by week description
Also a great resource is our recruiter - I scheduled an appointment with him prior to leaving which we discussed what to expect at MEPS, first days of boot camp and graduation. In fact, he said he would help plan our trip to graduation when I get the date. He also said for any reason, if I have any questions he would meet with me while she was away to help me feel more comfortable with him leaving
Glad we all have this connection...hopefully we can keep in contact to help the next 8 weeks go a little smoother...
