N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Dianne!!! Thank god I kept the phone close!!! My son called at 3:50 pm this afternoon. Very bittersweet call - He sounds sad and he said he misses home, but not regretful of his decision thank god. I had a lump in my throat for the entire call.  This is so hard!!!

Good Morning, Everyone!  Phones close today....just in case a call comes in from your SRs!

Yes, monicaT:  Wisdom teeth extraction is one of the most common procedures done at Bootcamp.  If they feel that there is any possibility that they could be a problem in the future, like during deployment, they will remove them.  They get a couple of days of SIQ (Sick in Quarters) and painkillers afterwards.

Comment by monicaT on September 19, 2014 at 10:23pm

My son said in his letter they want to take his wisdom teeth out during boot camp. Is this normal?

Comment by monicaT on September 19, 2014 at 10:19pm

Congrats on SARC.  I know you are so proud.  I really like how they are rewarded for their accomplishments.

I got a phone call from my Sailor Recruit yesterday evening! He did the swim test and qualified for SARC (Special Amphibious Reconnaissance Corpsmen ), and the priviledge of a phone call home! God it was good to hear his voice! He said bed at 8pm and up at 6am. Food is GOOD! Got his uniforms. Division starting to figure it out and he takes a Fitness test today! He sounded good! He said mail is on the way!
