How many moms do we have on here that their sailor is getting ready for SERE and/or FRAC?  My son has finished Air Crew, Rescue Swimmer School and A School.  I have been on the face book Navy for Moms and I really am getting tired of the drama but I still need support.

Congratulations to your son Brand's Mom - and welcome to the group.  You have a long, exciting journey ahead of you.  The people here are ready to answer any questions you might have, so don't hesitate to ask.  Heaven knows, we've all been there and had the same ones!

My parents left SD this morning after a great weekend with my son.  My Mom called me Saturday afternoon - she said they had been on the Midway for EVER, with the men showing no signs of EVER leaving, so she was sitting on the deck people watching while they were discussing/viewing airplanes.  They actually only spent 4 hours there - but sometimes she can be dramatic.  =)  They also got to tour base with him and see his Squadron and helo.

Brand's Mom- Welcome and congrats to your son! What an exciting time! There is a post above called "The path of a rescue swimmer"- it explains what will be happening next in the air rescue pipeline. Also, your son will have to phase up before he classes up... which means he has to learn the rules and pass inspections etc before he can start class. It took my son 10 months to get phased up, classed up and get through all the different schools including A school which was 13 weeks long. So, be prepared that it will take awhile. Best of luck to you and your son!

My son is on his way to Pensacola to start A school as a rescue swimer.  What is going to happen when he arrives to Pensacola?

Melissa, how lucky for your son to get to see his grandparents! I can understand the envy haha. It's so nice that they can do that. I'm sure that is a memory that he will always treasure.

Hope you have a great trip to San Diego JC - it is such a pretty place.

My parents are headed there this weekend.  I am so envious that they get to spend the weekend there with my baby boy.  He is ridiculously excited that his granddaddy is coming and he can show off his helicopter and stuff to someone who will appreciate it more than I did.  =)  My Mother is bracing herself for the 'man stuff' she will have to endure before getting to the beach.

It's been really quiet around here lately.  I hope everyone is doing well.

He's talking about trying to visit there in Sept when Jesuit dedicates the new chapel since my parents are planning to attend. I'll make sure he lets you know if he's coming. You gives yours a hug from me and tell him I said to be safe and enjoy this opportunity to see the world from a ship - it's not a job, it's an adventure!

JC - my son is also at Coronado, with squadron 8. He's a Sierra.
