Catsmom,

Wow!!  Hope your air gets fixed soon!!!  Haven't heard a whole lot from Jenn, just a few text msgs as she finalizes choices for flowers, cake, and DJ!!  She hasn't mentioned anything about weather.  Maybe I'll get a call from her after her engagement encounter this weekend.  I know her and David have lots of appointments scheduled for their time out there!!!

Jean,

I hope you get some nice time with your granddaughter this weekend.  I do believe it's time for us to see a picture of Aurora and her Grandmother!!!!!!!

splash,

You will always find support here!!  My first daughter left for bootcamp about 6 weeks after my mother suddenly passed away.  I think it made it harder because it brought back all the mourning emotions.  I think you just have to give yourself time - it is a big adjustment.  Especially, when after she leaves, you have to go for a couple weeks before you get to hear from her!!!  That alone adds to the stress!!  Come here and talk to us.  You're not alone!!

Ok Andrea,

I knew your daughter was on a ship, how did I not know she was out there in Bremerton?!?!?!  Catherine's last apartment was in Bremerton.  Did you ever get to go out there and visit when she was there???

Have a wonderful weekend all!!!!

Thank you for the support. I cannot even think about my daughter leaving and I start crying. Of course my oldest daughter moved across the country last month and my mother passed away the month before. It has been a rough summer. Even though I am sad, I am so proud of her for making the desicion to join the Navy.

The Washington site is very good. They will be able to help you with everything's. I live there and have seen a lot of question go through that site.

Charliedog, my daughter was stationed at Kitsap..Bremerton (but she is out now) she came home on leave after A-School and picked up her car and belongings. She wasn't married yet so she only had her clothes LOL she was assigned a barracks room.  I'm guessing from your post that he's a civilian? If that is the case I don't think she can apply for base housing (if that's something they are interested in) until they are and there could be a waiting list.  Otherwise she will have to look for an apt off base. Unfortunately, sponsors aren't always that great...like anything just depends on dedication/maturity of the person assigned to her.  Rachael had no help from her sponsor what so ever.  She may want to try to contact Kitsap herself for any info including the Fleet and Family Readiness... if they can't answer her questions they may be able to point her in the right direction.  Also as Anna suggested her current base maybe able to answer some of the questions or give her contact info.

Charliedog,

Welcome!!!  Hope I can help a little bit.  My daughter was stationed at Kitsap from 2009-2013.  She lived in housing there but then moved into her own apartment off base.  There are a couple car companies that will haul cars across the country.  I'm sure if you do some internet research you can find one.  I can't remember any of the names of the companies off hand.  I can ask my daughter about how to go about signing up for housing if you'd like.  She is not there anymore but can probably still provide some info.  She worked at PSD which is just outside the main gate.

Did your daughter have a PCS move since joining?  I assume she is just finishing A school.  If she hasn't had a move yet then she is entitled to have the Navy move her stuff.  But her move can only be from her home of record or her A school, to her next duty assignment.  She should contact PSD at her A school.  As far as her husband, I really couldn't say how soon she would get into base housing, or if they want to look for apartments off base.  I know Silverdale has some nice places.

Also, check out a group on here called Washington and Oregon.  Here is the link to it.

http://navyformoms.com/group/washingtonoregon

You can read some of the discussions on that group and may find some answers to some of your questions.  Join that group and post your questions there also.  They are a wonderful group of Moms!!!!

Let me know what else I can help you with.  Good luck to your daughter.

I have posted my question in other forums but wanted to post here as well.  the more information I can get the better!

Hello All.  I don't know if I am on the right group to be asking my question, but thought I would give it a shot.  My daughter got her orders for Kitsap..We are wondering what is the procedure for getting her car out there and moving some of her furniture.  Will she be assigned to housing right away?  Also, she is planning on getting married in between A school and arriving at Kitsap - I am trying to postpone this, but she is very headstrong.  Does anyone know if she just shows up with her new husband?  Does he wait until she gets housing.  She has tried talking to her sponsor in San Antonio but not getting much help. She is so busy with school and is extremely stressed out about how all this works. I am trying to help by doing research but I can find any specific answers..
