~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Well... here I am... back again. My son graduated boot camp last Oct. and now I am here for my grandson. What an honor it is to have my grandson follow in the footsteps of his uncle.

Beekeeper not to worry not everyone gets a call home at the same time. Please remember no news is GOoD News! He must have been having Duty (working) please remember when you write him not to ask why didn't you call because that might unpeg him thinking your bummed. Write him and tell him you're so proud he's working hard and doing what he went there for. (Yes, I do know it's hard not to be getting a phone call. When I wish I was getting a call, mail or email from my oldest sailor and my new SR I turn to the sky and just thinking they are under this same view.). Hugs moms! We will get through this next few weeks.
Those of you working on getting your hotels set great just remember sometimes they have gotten pushed back a week (not often but it can happen) make sure you get it so you get a refund if things change. Also airfare make sure you get refundable. Southwest seems pretty good in HHS past for my hubby and I. When we had to fly out to Seattle for the ships Homecoming but my son was already back because of a broken wrist that needed surgery my hubby changed his flight (via another airline) and we had to pay about $150. To change his ticket. I said I would stay on my planned route that way we wouldn't have any more fees. When I went to southwest the day of my flight I found out for that reason they would have swapped me up at no extra cost. You also get 2 bags free so the cabins are over stuffed with folks dragging stuff on and off the plane.
That's just my 2cents.

Please ladies remember to locate and join you local Blue star Mothers Group there is much support found in the group. I've been a member since my oldest joined the Navy in April 2010. I find it an honor to be part of one the original support groups in the USA. It costs a whopping $20 a year but by joining you let others know we are united.

Yes, I know some areas do not have chapters but find 7 military moms in your area and you can open a chapter.
I'm with Oh Chapter 26 out of Fairview park (North near Cleveland Hopkins Airport) if you would like more info please contact me. http://www.bluestarmothers.org

Ohiomom:  No, that date is probably correct.  The recruiter gets it off of the computer.  They have SRs arrive at all different times in the same PIR group.  Your SR may be in one of the later divisions to fill.  Wait for his form letter to confirm, but I think you are in the right place.  Welcome!

So sorry about the missed phone calls...it happens though.  Their calls will be so very random.  Some very early in the morning for those of you who live on the west coast....just try and keep your phone with you at all times during Bootcamp.  They can have scheduled calls, but lose them if someone in the division misbehaves, but they also have "earned" calls....so the calls can come at any time.  How often they can call also is up to their RDCs (bosses!).  Many times, if they don't leave a message, it is because it was a supervised call needing info.  They are not allowed to leave a message in that case.

Hope more calls come in soon for you!

Good Morning!

Kellsee - I didn't receive a call - I was home all day - the phone did ring a few times and no one was on the other end - not sure if we missed it or not - We don't have caller ID ( i know we live in a time warp) so I couldn't check it to see where the call came from. For my sanity I am going to say he didn't call yet - We have not received a form letter either yet - Time will tell!

I called my sons recruiter and they told me he was on ship 13 div 360 with a PIR of 11/07. But I think that date must be wrong because he got their on 9/15 5 days after some if yours and I didn't get a phone call. I think mine is still getting settled in.
Comment by Kellsee on September 20, 2014 at 11:20pm

It seems like everybody on here got a phone call today and I didn't. :(
