My son just got his date to leave for BC in October 2014. Haven't seen any posts since 2013 on this board. Looking for others that are finding there way here with same dates?

You are very welcome.

My daughter got there the same time. She is a future Nuke also. Hopefully we will be in this together for quite some time.

Yes, we will!! I guess we'll be celebrating New Years in Chicago!! Brrrrrr, it's gonna be cold, but well worth it!!

I've been in the "Leaving for BC in September" group for awhile, because my son ships on 9/29. No one else ever posted with a date close to that, so I decided to try the October group. So glad I did! Lots of you have kids shipping on 10/1 or so (same week as him).

He was in the Marines' DEP for a year, but, due to cutbacks, they kept rescheduling his boot camp ship date. We prepared to say goodbye several times, only to have his date pushed out last minute. He was finally able to be released, and joined the Navy DEP (which I'm much happier about). What an emotional roller coaster it's been! You'd think I'd be prepared for his leaving. Now that it's a week away, though, I find that I get tear-y without any warning. Excited for him, though!

My son too! It would seem that PIR would fall the day after Thanksgiving. Wonder if they will change it? Guess we will know soon. Can't wait till boot camp ends!!

PIR Thanksgiving week will be the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Also, those that fly out will fly out on Friday, not Thanksgiving Day.

My son leaves October 1st. Nice to see more of you out there! Looking forward to learning more about the Navy and finding ways to support my son that will be meaningful to him.
My son left to BC October 2. Any updates from any one of you would be great! We are all in it together. Doesn't sound like PIR is changed when it falls on Thanksgiving.

PIR Thanksgiving week is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and new Sailors who fly out will fly out on Friday rather than on the day after PIR. Those who stay in GL for "A" School or training still move over on the day of PIR and after checking in they have daytime Liberty every day through Sunday.

My daughter left today, 10/7/14, for boot camp. Anyone else from Tampa?

My son ships out Wednesday; from California..

My daughter is from Minnesota.
