question for sailor spouses/dependents
a friend of mine who's husband is in the air force says that she receives FSA(family separation allowance). she received it while her husband was in basic training, and she receives it now while he is in school. i had never heard of that before and was wondering if the navy pays FSA as well. thank you!

The navy does as well, your hubby should see it itemized on his LES :)
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your reply! :)
As bKm said the Navy does as well. It starts being paid once the Sailor is separated from his/her family for 30 days. It's paid during basic training, A and C schools and deployments. I believe it is back paid as well so even though it doesn't start being paid until you've been separated for 30 days, he will still get paid for those 30 days.
Oh that's great! Thank you so much for your response :)

Do you know how much?

I've heard it's an extra $250 a month

Thank you.  I have neither heard nor seen any money, while my husband of 5 years, has been with the navy for almost two years now.  Do you know of any other money that the separated, i guess at this point, abanodoned and lied to wife should get it????

Well an abandoned and lied to wife should be getting half of every check in my opinion lol , but this separation pay I was referring to is seperation pay while a sailor is away from his dependants for longer than 30 days

This is exactly what happened, ever since he enlisted in 2012, i had never seen him since.  Also, i am still living separately, because there was never the right time for me to join him.  The latest is that i was finally on my way to join him and he again postponed the date.  My stuff is in storage, and I am foating from one friend to another all over the States, because i have no money to support myself and place to sleep.  Up until recently, although on my way to join him, did not know where he exactly was, his work ph#, address etc....  Finally, he told me that we're two different people and our marriage is over, which was the total shock because he always told me he loved me.  I have no clue what is going on, but the latest is that I am going there anyway and will get to the bottom of it.  At this point, i know our marriage is over and i am devastated, but need to know the true reason.  My health is very frail now and I need a serious help to cope with all of this.  Where are you?  I definitely will need the people to get me through this very sad experience.  I am out of words, how deeply he hurt me!!!

Take care and pls. stay in touch, mia.

I'm really sorry that is happening to you. Hope your circumstances change very soon. I assume he didn't add you onto his checking account? Unfortunately I have no idea what your rights would be as far as receiving some sort of pay. I am fairly new to navy life since my husband is currently in bootcamp now, but he made sure to keep me up to speed on everything I needed to know. I would try to find out who you should get in contact with for your particular situation because I'm sure there may be someone to help you especially since you are legally married and you are technically one of his dependants.

Thank you very much and good luck to both of you!!!!
