N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

ProudMomof4:  You are welcome!

The SRs will have a chance to update their guest lists about a week before PIR.  So make sure you confirm with your sailors by letter now the names on the list, which should match ID they will use to get in.  It is ultimately up to the SR to put down whom he/she would like to attend, but I know they could use your help with actual names!  If anyone gets a form letter listing guests as mom, dad, brother, sister, etc....no worries.  They change out for the given names in the updated list.  You will not be mailed a copy of the final list....so you will need to confirm with your sailor before then to make sure names are on the guest list.  No extras are allowed in if not on the guest lists.

HydrangeaMimi,.

Not sure what you mean about being "confirmed with the RTC?"  You just need to make sure your SR grandson knows to list you on the Access List by your full name:  Mimi __________ and other family members he intends on inviting to PIR.  Probably the maximum for this PIR would be 4 guests~~

gracecape21 and TDSNAVY04--Thanks for the information about letters for SRs in ship12 div 349.  Maybe we'll get letters later this week.

What do we need to do to make sure we are confirmed with the RTC? We have made our reservations and looking forward to being there for PIR for SHIP 12 DIV 350 on 31 October 2014.  Sent letter with extra postage on outside for fear of not including enough for mailing.  Read all I could about mail.  Proud to be the grandmother of our SR!

Toni R and ProudMomof4 - my son is in 12/349.  On Saturday, he said Sunday (yesterday) would be the first time they could receive any letters or write them.  So, hopefully we get something in the mail later this week!
