My boyfriend has four more weeks to go in bootcamp and will soon be in A School. I understand what A school is and that he will have more privileges but what can I send him and how? He wants me to get a cell phone to him but I don't understand how I will go about doing it. I have googled endlessly about the mailing limits in A school and have found no info. Ladies if you have any info please respond it would be great appreciated

Not all Sailors fly out.

You will be able to give his cell phone to him after he leaves the RTC, either after he checks in at "A" School across the street if he stays in GL or at the airport if he flies out. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend. Some schools have restrictions on what you can send; for example, some do not permit food in the barracks, but others do.  What is your recruit's rating (job/specialty) going to be? I can point you to groups that will be more helpful as to what is permitted and what is not.

Check your My Page.

I have that same question My recruits is going to A school in texas for Master at Arms..

I left info for you on your My Page.

Can you help me with the same question. My son graduates 10/10 and will be going to A school in Connecticut. How do we find out the barrack rules for the particular schools our sailors will be attending? I've been trying to get some things together, but it's hard with not knowing what he can and can't have. Thanks in advance.

There really is not anything posted online to link to.  The rules also change periodically to address issues as they come and go.  You find out the rules after your sailors have checked in and gone through indoc.

ZachsMom, I left info for you on your My Page.

When will we find out what time his flight is to fly out?

He will be able to tell you after PIR. The Sailors may not know until the week of PIR or even the morning of PIR in some cases. Send an index card to your recruit to write down the info for you. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) to help you know how to plan your weekend.

Thank you.  I was afraid we would have to wait to find out.  Just trying to plan ahead.

You are very welcome.

Check your My Page.

Its not the time of his flight that matters, but the time that he will arrive at the airport.  And the answer to that question is very, very early in the morning. Plan on leaving your hotel at zero dark thirty on Saturday to maximize the time you can be with him at the airport.

And research the directions to both Midway and O'Hare in advance.
