Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of September (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have September ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in September, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

I dropped my son off at the hotel tonight.  He will be sworn in at 9am tomorrow morning and then he will be on his way.  I'm holding it together better than I thought.  We shall see what tomorrow brings....

Just a reminder to anyone who has not received "the box" if you leave home sign and date a note to the Fed Ex driver to leave a box from Great Lakes.

I so disappointed today. Came home to find a sticker on my door from FedEx, they came to deliver THE BOX and we were not home to sign for it, what makes it even worse is my husband said he was pulling in as the FedEx guy was pulling out and he didn't even stop. :( I have signed my sticker and they will leave THE BOX tomorrow, just sad, I am really looking forward to getting it and hoping for a little note inside.

How did everyone book their travel arrangements? Did you use the mmr? I have to make the arrangements tomorrow. I was waiting to hear that my other sons wanted to go.
I miss him like crazy, and wish I could fill the empty space I feel. Then I read these posts and realize there are little boys and girls whose mom's and dad's are at bootcamp. I'll keep thinking of them and the wives and husband's that are sitting at home.

We had no letter in my sons box but I expected that. He is a kid if few words. I am hoping he will actually call, he hates phones. I thought I have been doin ok the last few days just an occasional few second break down. We went to parent teacher conferences today. I didn't think anything about it until a bunch of my sons teachers came up and started asking me questions and I lost it . But the days are getting easier for the most part. For those of you who have just had your kids leave my prayers are with you. It will get better. I am only a week out from the phone call today. Every day gets a little easier!

littleman14, check your My Page.

littleman14, yes, it's fine to post the ship and division numbers if your recruit is not in an 800 division. Remember to wait on the form letter before sending letters.

my son left on 9/16 from Shreveport, I received his box Friday and was kind of expecting the form letter today. Bummer when I went to the Post office. They are not on my good side, they didnt even put my normal add in there today.

Thanks ladies! I think once we get the PIR date things will definitely get easier. Our son is still looking for daddy, and even tries to "call" him on his Spider-man cellphone, but he knows daddy's at work and that we'll see him soon :)
