My son left yesterday the 17th. Im feeling the same way.

yes is hard as mother to see our babies no longer be that but rather take their own path to become man. is hard for me i know this day will come but the worries of mothers i guess is what makes us feel the way we do sadden. to know if they ate are they cold is he ok, but we raise strong man so i pray they holding up well. stay positive and the weeks will son fly by..

We dropped our DEP son and another local DEP recruit off, on the 16th with his recruiter, and they drove to a hotel near MEPS to overnight it. He and the other boy went on to MEPS the next morning on the 17th, where hubby and I were lucky enough to be able to go meet him and see him swear in again!

By a nice coincidence, Sept. 17th was "Constitution Day!"  And he had originally sworn in while he was still in high school, on Abraham Lincoln's Birthday!

The other boy's parents and siblings were there, too. Our boys each seemed to really appreciate that their families were present for this ceremony, and during the waiting area time as the nerves began to fray lol  :)

They went to RTC from there that day. We got the standard phone call that he arrived there ok, we should receive his box in two weeks and another phone call in about three weeks.

Lots of roller-coaster emotions, happy, sad, scared, newly-lonely, etc. -- but mostly SO PROUD OF HIM!

My son left for RTC on 9/16 from Colo.  Woke up in time to answer his scripted call the same evening close to midnight.  Now, anxiously awaiting the form letter so we can get letters sent!  Feeling very proud of all the new recruits!!

My son left on the 15th from CO as well. Have your heard anything yet for your PIR date?

No letter yet :-(  Just received the box today....  Hope something comes for us soon!

i think my son box came in yesterday but i missed it. :( hopefully i'll get it today. did the box bring address where you can write him back?

no, the box only had his clothes and cell phone.  I was hoping for the letter today, but no......  :-(

Maybe tomorrow!!

My son left on the 16th and I received his form letter yesterday with a PIR date of 11.14.14

Yes he is in Great Lakes.  Div 002

Thank you for your reply as this will give me an idea when my son will graduate too.. awesome i cant wait to get he's letter so i can start making my reservation to go and see him graduate. never been to chicago so this is sure a good motivation to do so =),
