We sent the baby of our family off to boot camp today.  I am a blubbering mess at times and perfectly fine at others...this is going to be a wild rollercoaster ride.  I am ready to get this journey started and see my son again for PIR at the end of November :)

Hang in there sulley....  this is a great place for support and information!

Hi: My son left yesterday, Sept. 22. He arrived at 10:14pm. Did you get your call yet?

Thank you Kimik303, kkcs46 we have not received the short 2 minute call yet but we do know he is there.  Glad to hear your son made it safely!

:)

We sent our only son off Monday. Got my phone call around 5:30 last night. I totally relate to waves of sadness! Most of the time I'm happy for him, and my husband keeps reminding me the Navy will take good care of him. But I can't help missing him and worrying about him. I guess I need to let go and let him grow up?

We got our phone call last night at 12:30.  He sounded strong and calm which really put my mind at ease.  I worked today and found it to be easier to get through the day than I thought it would be.  I found myself wondering how my "baby" was doing but no tears fell today, cant promise tomorrow will be the same but one day at a time right?

:)  I keep remembering no news is good news !

You are absolutely correct kkcs46.  I have been an Army wife for 22 years and that has been the words that got me through many separations.

My son left 9/23 also. This was my second to go to GL. I'm very excited. Got my 2 min phone call last night around 1030pm. Now waiting for his package and letter

Wonderful news yulontay1! So glad to hear he arrived safely.  Sounds like we will be at graduation at the same time :)

Hello All!

I'm a Mom of a Navy boyfriend--my daughter's boyfriend arrived on Monday eveing. Just wondered if anyone has received their first letter yet, or about how long before the letters come? We are very proud of our Sailor and my daughter is just anxious to hear from him! Thanks all!

BeffMommy1996, I don't expect any letters directly from my son until at least week 3 of boot camp.  Their first few days are not training days so I am not anticipating anything until the middle of October.  Good luck during this process, if you need any additional information please feel free to ask.
