Hi Sue,

How wonderful!  My son is on this ship.  My sister has a few ladies in a retirement community that would like to help out.  I'm not sure how quickly they can get started for this period of time but I know they would like to help make pillow cases for a packing party that I'll be doing for Molly's in Dec 2015.

In the meantime I will ask my sister if these ladies want to start sooner. I will also help out with making these pillowcases.

After they are completed will we ship them to the ship or back to you? Do you find that you could make more pillow cases by purchasing sheets and cutting them up rather then using bolt of fabric?  Just wondering.

Thank you,

Donna

Sue,

When will you be posting the address where to send the pillow cases to?

Thank you

Donna

Sue,

Will these be going to both the Marines and Sailors aboard the MKI?
thanks

Hi Donna,

Sorry for the slow response!  I work full time and Wed is my long day.  Had company when I got home from work.

That's exciting that your son is on the ship!  And thank you for helping with this project. I would love over MI moms to help as well, even if it is donate shipping $.  HAE is a grassroots group, not a 501c3 so we do our entire projects with donations.

You will ship them direct to the ship.  When you have some made, just let me know.  We ship in waves to make it manageable.  We work a group until they are done.   I email the address on a need to know basis haha.

I haven't gone the sheet route.  I am a bargain hunter plus the Lord has blessed HAE with some very large fabric donations.  If everyone would do alittle bit, we can accomplish much!

Yes, the HAE motto is "All or None", so everyone gets one.  I see you emailed me as well and I will respond that too.

Regarding donations. Do you use any fabric, or patriotic fabric? Use a particular pattern or? My quilting buddies will have fun with this! Can't wait to get involved! My daughter goes to RTC on 11/3!!!

We use all sorts of prints, colors etc.  There are several different methods that are used to make them.

We began mailing to the ship yesterday.  Check into our discussions for several patterns.  I sent you my email address and if you send me yours, I can email them to you.

Congrats to your daughter!  That is coming up soon!

wave 1 pcs from top to bottom:  Birdie and Barbara S

I'll  have 20 ready to mail by Wave 3. I might have more so check back with me when wave 3 gets closer if you need more.

I'm glad I did a check in here - I hadn't realized this one was started!  I better get busy so I have something to add for the 10/9 wave.

My son (Navy) has a good buddy (Marine) on this ship - I am so excited that this is one I can help out with.

Thanks Lyn, I put you down.  Melissa, we would love your help!   So far we have 287 committed for wave 2.  We will do waves until they are done.  I am not putting all the names in the above discussion.  too many and too much time.  I always keep track anyway.

Some more photos of pcs sent-bottom 2 are Barbara P's and the top 2 are Carolyn S's

wave 1 is DONE, wave 2 begins on 10-9.  If you have some pcs made that can be sent, please let us know.

Hello Mary Lee, Andrea, Dottie, Vivian, Karen and Brenda

You ladies are amazing! It’s such a wonderful and kind gesture to have taken the time to make even the most simplest things such as this. I happen to pick the shark pattern one because of my love for sharks and other creatures of the deep. I love it a lot and I am going to keep it and make it into a heirloom. I appreciate what you ladies do and it helps us a lot in even giving us a warm glow in our hearts. We will do our best to get ourselves back home safely but first we will perform our duties that the country has asked us to do. God bless you.

From,

Jayson  CTM1
