Yes, definitely we need a packing party.  Anyone want to be the volunteer hostess (for you newbies, we all pitch in and help, it is just held at your home)??

I wouldn't mind doing it, but you know my place isn't very big. Things are very crazy for me ... so I'll give the rest of you the chance to do it first!!!   ** Nick's Mom, Ellen are you interested?  **

A packing party is when a bunch of us gather (usually at someone's home), bringing items off the 'wish list' of the group being adopted for the month on Molly's Adopt A Sailor. Moms bring what they can afford, then we combine everything and make care packages to ship to whomever. The shipping date is scheduled so that all the packages arrive around the same day!  It makes for a lot of excitement and is a huge morale booster. The boxes are for enlisted only because they are the ones where we find men and women who have NEVER received a letter let alone a care package from home. Sad but true. Check it out and see what you think.

Not a silly question at all Donna!  Many of us in this group have also joined the group Molly's Adopt A Sailor.  The women in this group are such fun and supportive, you might want to peek into that group before joining to get an idea of what is going on.  You can look, just not post anything.

Might be a silly question what is a packing party? Very new here. Son has just been given his C school location and where his duty station will be for the next 2 years.Other Donna my husband grew up in Plainville not far from where the outlet is now. We lived in Attleboro for a few years before moving to Taunton.

Hey Ladies, sounds like you and your Sailors are all doing well...; )) A packing party sounds great! I leave for Greece on Oct 21 for a month. Any ideas if we are doing this before then?

Yes Donna, you're right! We DO need to get together and of course a packing party would be great.

We are going out to CA to see our Sailor for his birthday, 10/16-21 and then have another quick trip to D.C. to visit friends the weekend of 10/31.

I'm always up to host but I am the only one on the North Shore and that means everyone has to travel.

Thoughts??

Welcome to ALL new Mom's!

I'm also happy to announce that Special Hugs may have found a contact!  FINALLY. I'll let you all know when we get things up and running again.

Welcome to all the new MA Navy Mommas!!

I'm (another) Donna and I live in Plainville - very close to many of you.

I was talking with Pat L. in IL today and she told me she has adoptions set for the holiday (November group) and for December. We haven't had a packing party in a VERY long time. We haven't even had a chance to get together. I think we need to change that -- soon!

Dee, Johanna, Michelle (Chelita) any thoughts or suggestions of when or where?

Hi MA Navy Moms!   I live in Smithfield, RI.  My son is a Corpsman as a Navy Reservist out of Newport!  It will be two years in January that he joined.  Looking forward to meeting all the new Navy Moms.

Hi! MA Navy Moms. I live in North Attleboro. My son is on deployment on the Carl Vinson. The ship left Aug.22 for 10 months to the Persian Gulf. He emails and I got a picture the other day. I'm happy to hear there are members near by.

Ellen
