For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

PIR Graduation
Hi all,
I am very new at this and haven't recieved any info from my son yet who shipped out 9/23/14. Does anyone have any idea when PIR Grad. could be so I can start to plan. Also how long does it take to get any word form him either a letter or phone call. Missing my son.
Thanks to all you Navy moms this web site has been soooooo helpful.

It is wrong. There is a PIR on 11/14/2014 for Divisions 001-008 and 901 and one on 11/21/2104 for the Divisions 009 and above and Division 902 and PIR Thanksgiving week will be 11/26/2014, but those recruits are just now arriving. What is the Division number?

My son shipped on the same day and from the same place as his friend from high school, however, his friend graduated 9/19 and he graduated a week later, 9/26. So sometimes it depends on if they are filling the end of a division (his friend) or on hold waiting to fill another division (my son). Don't make any concrete plans until you get the letter. :)

Good point.
Once your recruits arrive at RTC, they become your primary source of reliable information. Anything gleaned from Recruiters or moms whose kids left the same day is to be treated as scuttlebutt. Wait until you receive the form letter from your Recruit before you address any envelopes or make binding plans for PIR.

Ah man I'm so upset. Still no PIR letter. I ran to the mailbox as soon as the mail person left and there was nothing. I really thought it would be here today since others who left on 9/23 had gotten theirs

Hi Shelly, My son left on the 18th and I just received his PIR letter yesterday so I am guessing yours could be any day. Funny thing is I usually get my mail once or twice a week and I was going everyday looking for that letter. Needless to say, it was exciting when I saw his writing on that envelope! ;-)

Everyone's boot camp experience is unique. Putting too much stock in other mom's experiences just sets you up for disappointment. Patience.

My son shipped out on 9/23 as well and we received the form letter in the mail yesterday. So excited when it came! His PIR is scheduled for 11/21. Can not wait to get to see him! So proud but like all the rest, missing him very much. He is my oldest :)

My son left on 9/23 as well and I have not received my letter either. I wait anxiously for it but like many of you I have not received it. I cant wait to get his address and get the lines of communication open :)

Yes, although stamps and stationary are readily available, its a subtle way to remind them to write. ;)
