momtom and Julieforjoey, sounds like we are all in limbo, then, just wondered if it was only my MM's section.  Apparently part of the problem is that as soon as they cross that stage with their certificate, they are grad hold, so no one knows who is responsible for them yet.  My MM is pretty good at keeping me informed, so as soon as she has something definite, I will be sure to pass that info along.  We also are going down for the graduation, and staying the weekend.

My son is also 1405 EM! I get more information from other moms on this site than I do from my son! I also plan to stay for the weekend! I don't know if he'll have to find housing in GC or plan to move to New York!

B'sNukeMoM - thanks so much for the info - very much appreciated!

8isenuff, my son is ET 1405 and I can't get a straight answer on leave either. I did go ahead and book my flights and am planning on staying there for the weekend. I got burnt by this after A school because I had to stay until Sunday and he flew home for leave on Friday! I am hoping that doesn't happen again! Please share if you ever get a straight answer from yours.

Can't believe it's October!!!  Yikes - it's almost Christmas - have you started your Christmas shopping?!

Adding my congrats to all of the recent graduates!  A proud moment for everyone.  :-)

Slezak'sMom, big Navy mom hug for you!

Co-Twin, Wondered how things are going for you, with school and house and all?

B'sNukeMom, do you have an update on NDMs?  Continued prayers for them.

Reaching the midpoint of PS for my two kiddos, so things are heating up a bit.  Subject matter can be more difficult, I guess.  Cross rates classes, and such.  They are both doing okay, yet, so I will take that and be grateful.  My ET got his first choice, the MM got the third choice, but it is fine.  I would be curious to see the ASVAB test results, because I really would not consider the MM to be a "gear head," much better at applied sciences.  Interesting...

A question for anyone with a sailor in class 1405:  Does anyone have any solid information on the 10 day Leave and/or holiday schedule following PS graduation?  We've heard one or the other, both, and neither.  My MM's SLPO has apparently decided to be less than helpful, and we are trying to make flight arrangements, etc.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

kjzmsmom - Prototype is supposed to be 24 weeks.  That being said it is hard to say.....It's not like A school & Power School where it is all classroom study.  The first 7 weeks of proto are classroom and then comes the hands-on part.  That is where the delays can come in....my son is in BS so I can't speak for GC, but I know my son started proto in April and maybe will have a grad date in December.  Nothing for sure yet.....On the other hand once proto starts they do have a set schedule and about once a month they have 4 days straight off.  My son always knows when that is so your sailor could make plans to do a wedding at that time.

Wishing a Happy Birthday to Co-Twin! (I hope I have the right date!)

Comment by kjzmsmom on October 1, 2014 at 10:03am

Could someone explain how long it takes once a sailor starts prototype (in Goose Creek)?  My son and his fiance' are waiting until he starts prototype to set a wedding date, but I'm wondering if the prototype end dates could change and goof up their plans. Once prototype starts, are the dates that it finishes set (assuming no big disasters like the cheating scandal last year)?  Thanks!

Congrats to those finishing up prototype. What a long journey it has been. Keep us posted on ship assignments.
