Hello everyone! My son left for boot camp today. It was a very proud moment watching him get sworn in. This day seemed if come fast and I can't believe he's gone. I am not sure how to feel at this point. I am so very happy for him and sad at the same time. I am happy I found this site! If anyone has any advise or information that will help me through the next few months I would love to hear it! My 9 yr old daughter is having a hard time, she has been his sidekick and they are very close.

My son left today as well. This is our second time through this and I thought it would be easier but it's not. I agree that you are proud yet sad at the same time. After the first month or so it will be easier when you have more regular contact again. Maybe your daughter can pack a special care package for him. That may help her. Good luck to you.
Thank you! It really helps to hear what other mom are going through. I'm still waiting on the phone call that he made it there. I am so nervous about how he is going to sound. I know in time it will get easier, the hardest part is knowing I will not be able to hear his voice for 8 weeks. Good luck to you and your family!
My son left last week. You're right it is a very proud moment yet sad all wrapped up together. I'm waiting for the form letter with his address. You can only send letters though. No care packages.
It's nice to know I'm not the only mom feeling sad. Do you know if your son called you from the airport or from boot camp? I'm still waiting for the phone call letting me know he made it there safe. I just want to hear his voice even though I saw him this morning. :(

Hello Arizona mom,

This site is a God Send for us moms. My son left one week ago, to say he is missed is an understatement. I received his box yesterday but still no official letter to where I can mail his letters. I began writing the day after he left which helped with the process. We have a 14 year old son that took it hard as well. This is my first time going thru this but there are so many helpful, caring moms here that will support you every step of the way . Best of Luck <3

Hello Shelly. It looks like there is so much support on this site. I'm so happy I found it! Best of luck to you! Please keep let me know when you receive the first letter, that will help me have a better idea of when I might receive mine.
Hi Arizona mom. Im from Az also very close:) my son left sept.17th...Join navyformoms on facebook and your PIR date..very helpful as well. I have an 8 year old daughter that is also having a hard time missing her brother.

I left info for you on your My Page.

My son left October 1st also. I thought I had prepared myself for this, but not hardly.  Everyone tells me let him have his wings. It's not about his wings. It's about a mom that loves her children  and misses them, I have been doing ok until yesterday when I got his clothes and cell phone.  Everyone makes me feel that I acting silly. I go to work come home to a empty house and wait.  I wonder if he's doing ok and passing all of his tests. Sorry for all of my rambling. I just have a hundred questions and not sure where to start...

I welcome advice on what is next....

I left info for you on your My Page.

I feel the exact same way as you do.
I guess we are all in the same boat or ship. :) I'm glad this site is here to help!
