For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

You will have to let your sailor know because he will have to put your name on a list in order for you to get onto base.

Kaina, or you others who have experience with deployments do you know if the Cape FRG will give us plenty of lead time prior to the Cape St George returning to home port? I am planning to surprise my son by being there when the ship arrives and need to make travel plans.

So much to learn, huh Liberty. You'll be a pro soon. It helps if you get to see the base too. As far as the 2 bedroom apartments (the nice furnished ones) they have to be a certain rate/rank to live in those. That's what will dictate which apartments he'll be in.

My son has ATT. I am not sure how good the service is. Apartments and rooms are furnished. I do not think you will need to ship the futniture.

Thank you Mary, Kaina, BR549 and Mike's Mom! I really do appreciate you answering my questions! I have two more...First....We have a family plan on AT&T but since they were not all started at the same time we only have two lines that have unlimited data. My son and daughter had the lines WITHOUT unlimited and my son was always going over what he was allowed so my husband switched lines with him. Believe it or not, my husband has been using more than my son ever did! He listens to Spotify for music and is costing us too much. He doesn't seem willing to stop, so I am looking at other options. We may break up the plans and keep just the two unlimited lines and go with Sprint for two (they will offer us unlimited). So...here is my question- What cell service is considered the best for San Diego? Cell phone is the only thing that we still cover for our son and we want to continue to do so.. AND I want him to have excellent service while he is there so we an contact him if we need to do so.
Second question...When (and if) my son gets into one of the apartments are they furnished? If not, will the Navy ship his furniture out to him (he put everything from his apartment into storage before Boot Camp) or does he have to pay to do it?

My sailor did not have a car when he first arrived. He did fine without and was able to explore the city, but he drove his car back to base after his first leave. I know he prefers to have it, but having a car is not a necessity.
