Phone calls from recruits and sailors are almost always AWESOME :)

Good morning everyone, I am heading to the Outer Banks today for some R & R :) so excited to have a couple days at the beach with my hubby, although I think it is going to be a little chilly lol

I have not introduced myself yet...

Hello! Fireteamleaderwife here. You can call me FTLW, it's easier :-)

My Sailor PIR’d in 05/2011. He is a Seabee Reservist. I have been an AF (Security Forces) Reservist wife for 28 years…I know …not Navy…but I am somewhat familiar with military life! We have been through two Deployments. Now working on Retirement process from AF and soon from Civilian job. Our son enlisted while Hubby was in Iraq. This site was a Godsend and helped me get through not only our sons BC experience but my husbands and my separation for 6 months.

I am a “veteran” mom on the PIR groups mostly.

I know.  Love to hear that "Hi, Mommy!" from my Sailor daughter!!  :D

Thank you CatMom509...I will keep this in mind.  :)  Such a joy to hear his voice!

peejinator,

The calls come randomly and no set number, so please keep your cell phone with you fully charged (calls go into voice mail when battery is low) and always by you when your SR is in Boot Camp.  Also, please let your family know to look out for the "847", "Waukegan, IL", "Pay Phone", and "Government."  Answer all unfamiliar calls and just politely tell sales calls "No, thank you."

Good Morning!

For those asking to join the facebook group. It looks like several found the wrong group. The one that has "new" in the title is not our group. Our groups usually have a lot more members as well. We have had the PIR groups for about 3 years at least and we have several admins who all have sailors and we closely monitor the groups. We do our best to make sure all those asking to join have a recruit in that PIR group. Our group is private and no one can see anything posted there unless they are a member of that group. But no matter what group or anyplace online don't post any personal info and always obey OPSEC. Here is the link to your facebook group :) Just remember to always stay active on this group as well.

I was thinking I read someplace where they could only call every two weeks...so when I got my call this weekend I was so excited!  Ship 12 Div. 16

So happy for you Peej!  Hey Melissa, did you get a call this weekend?

Comment by peejinator on October 20, 2014 at 10:17am

Anyone here have a son Luke on Ship 12, Div. 16?  My son said they are good friends.  I actually ranked a call this weekend and got a letter...so happy.  :)
