For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Bookster - yes bring your cameras. make sure to take some practice pics before the ceremony mine came out a little dark. I think it's all that great pain lol.

basically you're only allowed to take pictures once you get inside of the visitor center and Midway ceremonial drill hall. they are connected.no photography is allowed outside of the hall. cameras will be confiscated and memory cards could be erased. sorry no caps using the voice command on my phone.

See, that is why I love this place. You guys know everything and set us straight! but I am allowed to take my camera to graduation correct? Video and photo is ok? HE just can't have these items.

No balloons or flowers either. You'll be asked to take them back to your vehicle. The Sailors may not have "civilian" outside items with them on Base.
When they go on Liberty they may not bring any outside items back onto RTC with them either.
From RTC Website - Rules on Liberty:
4. Food, tobacco products, video cameras, cell phones, or any other portable electronic shall not be brought back to RTC.

Sorry, Banners are not allowed at PIR. It obstructs others view and it is not in keeping with the bearing of the event. You could make one for your Hotel room though :-)

I agree with FTLW. My son insisted on being back on base on PIR night 45 min early. My older son's GPS actually took us to a restaurant that had been closed down....my sailor son was so upset that he said he would just skip dinner, he couldn't be late back on base! Yep, On Time is LATE in the military! As it was, we had time to eat at a Buffalo Wings place near the Walmart that was packed with sailors from the A School, so my son got to talked to a few of them. But he said his goodbyes quickly to us (we were able to drive onto the base then, not sure if they still allow that) because he still had about a 15 min walk or so to get to his ship.

Being that I live in Florida and that he will be in Pensacola for A school. I was not very worried about life after bootcamp. Because in my non Navy knowledge head I was thinking that he could just drive/fly down maybe once a month? and I would get my much needed son time but after reading all these posts from people that KNOW what the heck is going on I realize there will be a mile limit in his school also and we are waaaaay out of the range. Darn. Sure put a damper on my future :( But we will figure something out and either fly in once in a while to see him. Anything for these kids.
