I believe they have stand down over Christmas. My son who was in Groton for 2 weeks came home for almost 2 weeks last Christmas. Be sure that his return trip arrives well before he is due back. Weather can interfere!

Just spoke to my son and he was writing an essay.  He graduated BMS on Friday but his class was kicked back to white card because 6 of the guys in the class did not know how to act.  He did not say what they did and I did not ask.  I know in boot camp his division had trouble with talking so this maybe part of the problem.  He was not in a good mood at all.  He does not like to write essays and is angry that he is back to white again for 2 weeks and then maybe blue.  He has no patience for someone not following the rules.  He did say he graduated 2nd in his class and he did not study very much.  I said just imagine you could have been first if you studied, do not think he was impressed with my comment.  Of course nothing I could have said would have made a difference in his mood.  Hoping we will know soon when he gets to leave for Christmas so we can look at tickets.  He found reasonable tickets on Southwest last week but has no idea when he will get to leave so we have to wait.  He says he will drive if tickets are too high.  That is a 15 hour drive.  I think we will use of frequent flyer points if we can not get cheap/reasonable tickets. Delta does limit the number of seats for points during the holidays and it takes more points but I would feel better than him driving to GA. I did get a laugh out of him when I started crying as we said goodbye.  I told him I did not know why I was crying and that I had cried today when his dad left for a business trip.  He laughed and said that's menopause for you mom.  I told him I guess.  I try to never let him know when I am sad but he usually can tell.  Have a great week Ya'll.

My husband and I just returned from a visit to see our sailor. It was wonderful to see him and to get the best hug ever. It was nice to see where he lives and meet his friends. We had a wonderful visit. Looking forward to A school graduation in early December. Wishing everyone a blessed day. Thank you to all of our sailors and the families that support them.

Just want to see if anyone else is anxiously waiting for sonar graduation in the middle of Nov... I'm praying my son will be able to come home for Christmas - I won't be able to go to his graduation :0(. I feel REALLY bad about that ... it's been a very long year for both of us.

Hi All!  Can't recall if I posted on here yet or not. But my Sailor went to Groton, October 4 this year. He is doing great. Been a slooow start as they had to wait for more sailors in order to completely start school. He is loving the freedom. He's making friends. He didn't really make friends to much in BC cuz it seemed like people were getting moved around all the time. He's very eager to get moving down his new path.

Have a great day!

tide, I think it's still SECF-Submarine Electronics Computer Field.  You're in the right place!  When I hear from my son I'll try to remember to ask him. :)

Does anyone know if a sailor hasn't phased up or anything yet, what time they have to be in their rooms?

Welcome to all the new ladies!!!  Your sons will love Groton!  My son was there and left at the end of July and is now stationed in Hawaii.  He really enjoyed his time in Groton.  :)
