What a wonderfull story, thank you!                                        My husband and I have been in sc since Thur. We visited the Mongolia plantation yesturday, and Charleston today. We get to pick up our sailor today at 4:00, so excited to spend the weekend with him.

Peejinator - just an FYI - check with your son before you make all these plans.  I was fretting over my son being "all alone" for Thanksgiving.  He finally told me to stay home - a bunch of the far from home sailors got together and rented a house on Foley Beach for the long weekend and they cooked there and had a fabulous time. He delayed telling me because he didn't want to hurt my feelings.   I'm glad I didn't go and interfere with his "time with his new friends"  He came home for Christmas and we got to spend a lot of time with him then.  Go another weekend when you can spend a lot of time with him.

Asking a special blessing for you moms in Ballston Spa area tomorrow. This is the first graduation I've missed. I know it's small and low key, but ... We will all be asking you for details! I told my son to smile at any mom who points a camera at him!

Wow Slezaks Mom... That is quite the story, you were blessed with a special angel. It has been a long haul that I have been reading your posts and here you are with a sailor at the end of the pipeline. So Cool. Pray for safe seas for him in his future. Enjoy your time with him and congratulate him for me.

So, I'm traveling today to Albany, NY, to attend the Prototyoe graduation tomorrow!! Yes, I'm very excited, but it's been rough...

I was supposed to leave yesterday, but something got messed up with my 3rd-party, cheap airfare site and agent who assisted me. The flight got booked for today instead of yesterday and I was pretty much crushed when they told me there was nothing that could happen any sooner -- even if I paid the exorbitant fees!

So, I waited and am flying today. I've got a connection in DC (now), but as I was waiting (in the front of the line!) to board, the gate agent told me that I'd have to check my bag because the zone on my ticket indicated I'd be boarding last and the flight was going to be too full for overhead baggage by the time I got on. "Oh, no! I'm going to miss it, or embarrass my kid by attending graduation in travel clothes with only purse makeup," I thought to myself...

Before I could process this, a random guy came up to me and said, "There you are! I've been waiting for you over here in priority boarding!!" He sorta moved me and my suitcase over to where his stuff was, and as the gate agent walked away he said,

"I'm James. I overheard you've been having some troubles getting to see your son graduate. My brother was Navy and I got to see him graduate in Pensacola a long time ago. I know it meant a lot to him. I can't get you there any sooner, but I can make sure you don't have to check your bag. We're together now and you can board with me when 1st class boards."

I was stunned. I'm sure I said thank you (hope I did, but it's fuzzy) and I said, "How can I repay you?" James said, "You don't have to. Tell you son I said thank you, for sure, but I want to thank you, too. It's families as well as the guys doing the job who sacrifice, too, you know?"

Well, I teared up then and am now as I type, but James made my day and I wanted to share because you all deserve a thank you, too!!
