My daughter is in boot camp righ now and is undesignated S-PACT. When I first read the negative comments of NavyBrat, my stomach was just sick. I am sure that like  anything else in life there are pros and cons. The idea here is to be supportive. Thank you to everyone for the positive and encouraging words.

I see some of the post and I am upset about it too. I am on the page for my son's ship primarily but I still get the messages from this group. Not good for morale

Oh he is a Yellow Shirt on the carrier and he loves his work. You get to work closely with everyone on the flight decks and he loves his work.

yes they do have airmen undes program and it is great. My son is on a supercarrier and he loves it he has ranked up 3x and has gotten 4 accomadations. He was nominated for the blue jacket award 3x and the last time he made to the interviews. He has never been abused or treated badly. He even told me that when you go undes you get alot of respect from guys with a higher rank because they no you have worked in alot of different positions. He is also a certified Chemical Engineer which he was chosen and qualified for and a senior hot suitman. Now tell me Undes is not the way to go!!!

I am glad to see other people standing up against the negativity.  I voiced my concern about this previously. My son is undesignated APact and is deployed on the USS Carl Vinson.  Is he in any kind of a dream job right now?  No, but he certainly is putting forth his best effort to work hard and show that he is capable of striking for a job when appropriate.  He has expressed that undesignated does have to work harder then those that attend A School and come in with a job, but he is prepared to do just that to make his journey successful.   He is working on his "quals" and learning as he goes.  He has had some exposure to jobs that he might be interested in and is feeling out the opportunities for jobs that are undermanned.  No job is perfect as most of us know.  He knows that he is going to have challenges that he will have to overcome.

Hello ladies please dont let all of that upset you. My son was undes and he told me it's the way to go. You do alot of different things so when you strike for a rate you know exactly what you will be doing. He is very happy and getting ready to re up. It is what you make it. There is not a job anywhere here or civilian that hands you anything on a silver platter !!! Have a great day and support your sailors !!

Welcome Micheal's Mom, Unfortunately you are exactly right about the negativity on this page. There should be a declaimer that anyone joining this site should start with the very first comment and read on to the present.

I'm about to ramble.........

I've been a member of this page since 2009 when my daughter was undesignated. I don't know what has happened here. It used to be a place where the loved ones of the sailors could come to help each other out emotionally, bounce ideas off each other see what's going on with each other and just have fun. No one had the correct answers. It was the best SUPPORT system I had.  I looked forward to seeing what everyone had to say. Now there's nothing but negativity on here, it's a shame.
Was I worried when my daughter went in Undesignated?.....sure, but it helped to have others on this page to talk with and know that she wasn't the only one doing this program. My son had gone in rated, undesignated was all new to me.
I would hope we all know the Military or anything else is not a perfect system. Let's support each other and be there for each other.  I do think the few that have spoiled this site have some ax to grind, or a chip on their shoulder. If their sailors have gone in with that same attitude then explains a lot about their problems in the Navy.
This is not the place for all this negativity. It's not helping anyone on here, your scaring people who need support and a place of some comfort. That's all this site should be. This was always a site that if I was feeling down or worried or even just missing her my daughter, It would always lift me up and in turn I could relay those feelings to her.
If you have some kind of major issue, and think you have all the answers then get off this site and start your own, "Bitchy Negative people" or take it to someone that can do something about it, write your congressmen, write the White House but stop scaring people away that just need an outlet.....or maybe you should join fox news!!!
My daughter is not undesignated any longer, she has reenlisted and plans to agin next year.
