My daughter is in boot camp righ now and is undesignated S-PACT. When I first read the negative comments of NavyBrat, my stomach was just sick. I am sure that like anything else in life there are pros and cons. The idea here is to be supportive. Thank you to everyone for the positive and encouraging words.
Amen proud.....Go Navy!!! Bravo Zulu laddies !!!!
Hey proudofmysailor it's me Mary !!! Did your son not go to A school in Pennsicola. Usually AirPac goes there for about 3 weeks.
I see some of the post and I am upset about it too. I am on the page for my son's ship primarily but I still get the messages from this group. Not good for morale
Oh he is a Yellow Shirt on the carrier and he loves his work. You get to work closely with everyone on the flight decks and he loves his work.
yes they do have airmen undes program and it is great. My son is on a supercarrier and he loves it he has ranked up 3x and has gotten 4 accomadations. He was nominated for the blue jacket award 3x and the last time he made to the interviews. He has never been abused or treated badly. He even told me that when you go undes you get alot of respect from guys with a higher rank because they no you have worked in alot of different positions. He is also a certified Chemical Engineer which he was chosen and qualified for and a senior hot suitman. Now tell me Undes is not the way to go!!!
I am glad to see other people standing up against the negativity. I voiced my concern about this previously. My son is undesignated APact and is deployed on the USS Carl Vinson. Is he in any kind of a dream job right now? No, but he certainly is putting forth his best effort to work hard and show that he is capable of striking for a job when appropriate. He has expressed that undesignated does have to work harder then those that attend A School and come in with a job, but he is prepared to do just that to make his journey successful. He is working on his "quals" and learning as he goes. He has had some exposure to jobs that he might be interested in and is feeling out the opportunities for jobs that are undermanned. No job is perfect as most of us know. He knows that he is going to have challenges that he will have to overcome.
Hello ladies please dont let all of that upset you. My son was undes and he told me it's the way to go. You do alot of different things so when you strike for a rate you know exactly what you will be doing. He is very happy and getting ready to re up. It is what you make it. There is not a job anywhere here or civilian that hands you anything on a silver platter !!! Have a great day and support your sailors !!
Don't know what happen to my paragraphs......sorry.
Welcome Micheal's Mom, Unfortunately you are exactly right about the negativity on this page. There should be a declaimer that anyone joining this site should start with the very first comment and read on to the present.
