My son just got his date to leave for BC in October 2014. Haven't seen any posts since 2013 on this board. Looking for others that are finding there way here with same dates?

My son leaves for RTC in Oct 2014. Nice to meet you.

Oh good, nice to meet you also!

Hi - my son is scheduled to leave Oct 20 for GL.

Best wishes - Tonypete

Mine is scheduled for the 28th for GL.

Mine leaves the 28th for GL too.

Hi!

I just got on this site tonight. My son is leaving the 20th of October as well. He is a nuke and will do A school in Charleston.  He has been in DEP since last November. Nice to meet you! Tonypete! Chris

Hi Chris!

My son has a nuke contract also after BC. I've been racing around the last few weeks visiting long distance family to have my son say his "goodbyes" to grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

I've raised him and his brother alone as their mother passed years ago and since he is the last one to leave the nest, I'm sure it will hurt but, this is how it is supposed to go.

I am so proud of him - I'm proud of all the kids young men and women whose parents are here.

Pleased to meet you too Chris, stay in touch please - Tony

My daughter went the 20th. She has a Nuke path also.

Since your recruit will be in the Nuclear Field, you will want to join NUKE moms and you may also want to check out Nuke School Charleston and Nuke A School FAQ. The Rating Information Card for NF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/nukepower.pdf. Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend when the time comes.

Your Sailor may have Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY; if so, join Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY at that time. Some stay in Charleston.

Some go to Ballston Spa for Prototype and some (perhaps most) stay in Charleston for Prototype. Sailors can volunteer for Ballston Spa or be voluntold to go there for Prototype. Once there are enough Sailors for a class, then others cannot volunteer.

Hi Chris, I just joined this group today. My son is also a nuke and left for BC on Oct 21. We hope his PIR is on 12/12/14. We don't know if he'll fly to GC directly from BC or if he'll come home for the holidays. His recruiter told us he would most likely come home but we're not counting on it. The recruiter also told us that our son may stay at GL for a week or so after his PIR to help out with new recruits and then come home for the holidays. Have you heard anything? Thanks, Hari
