Hi Dee, I have not seen or heard of any PBS special like that as of yet. Please let us know when this special will air if you find any info, I'm sure it will be a great one to watch.
I hope everyone is having a nice Fall & also hope all your sons are doing well!
BJA57 (Beth), Congratulations to your son on his 10yrs with SWCC & best of luck to him with his new adventure!! I feel very proud of your son for those 10yrs he served in this remarkable profession! I also want to thank you, along with Travis & D'sMum for all the advice & support you all have given us here over the last few years since my son has been a SWCC, it has been very helpful to me! Take Care!
Hi SWCC Family!
Well, after 10 years, 7 deployments, wonders, wonderfulness, wars, and wounds, our W has decided to pursue another adventure. Thank you all (esp. Beth and Travis) for the support and bolstering. When I felt most alone, it was this cyber-family who seemed to understand and prop me up. When I wasn't sure of the details of this complicated job that my son chose, you were there to answer questions and guide. Although we are but strangers linked by this remarkable profession our sons are in, I feel akin to you. Thank you for that.
You and your sons are in my prayers and thoughts.
Thank you--- I cannot say it enough!
Be strong and fare well.
Fair winds and following seas,
Sincerely,
Beth
Hi Navy_gf. My son recently graduated. We stayed at the Hampton Inn Airport/Seaworld which was within 10 miles or so. It was an average drive of 15-20 minutes to the base. Traffic was never a problem.
Our dinner the night before the ceremony was parents and spouses only. Business casual was the dress code and it was held in the boat house like Zephyr mom said. I wore a dress to both ceremonies. We were informed of the ceremony date about 6 weeks before and booked our flights as soon as we could.
As Amber 1321 says, don't plan to far ahead. Things always change and they have to pass tests each week. The instructors even said that there have been some in the past that leading up to the final days until the graduation, did not get to graduate and were rolled back. Nothing is final until the very end. Don't want to sound discouraging, and I hope your sailor makes it, but it is a tough program and every day and week is a test and a challenge to make it through. Best of luck to him!
Navy_gf my husband is starting cqt and this is his second time through the program. My advice to you is try not to plan to far ahead. Not because he won't make it but things can just change so quickly. I would wait until he starts cqt to make those arrangements! You gotta take BCT day by day. Best of luck!
