The first PFA is like a "baseline" of the individual Recruit and then as a whole division as well. Since they train as a Division then the RDC's/PT personnel know what needs to be done for the Division for training. 

I think I know what points you may be thinking of as far as adding them together. The divisions do earn points towards the Athletic flag that can be earned in BC. Here is the info on that:

Physical Fitness (A) Flag- Awarded for receiving a 3.50 on first physical assessment and a 4.0 or higher on second assessment. 

Totals of the recruits in a Division are added up and averaged to get the percentages.

This is also true for the other three Divisional flags that may be earned:, Drill, Compartment Readiness (inspections) and Scholastic (academic).

I have a PAGE I used to post that explains each Flag and Pennant that may be earned in BC with pictures. I'll post it tomorrow. On phone right now :-).

Oh, Pennants are like earning the flag twice. It gets attached to the flag. 

There is an Independent Steaming Pennant. Might go with drill or it is it's own.

Independent Steaming is when the Division can march to and from places without their RDC present.

That's a good rule to follow though about keeping your phone with you at all times. 

I said usually because I base it on the "norm" and their are always the possibilities of deviations. I think we have seen calls come earlier, Vet moms?

I'm a Sailor! calls usually start being made about 1 to 2 pm Great Lakes time following the completion of BST-21. 

The exercise starts mid evening and is completed twelve hours later the next day in the early am. After the Capping ceremony (hooyah) they go to eat and clean up and put their ship in order before being taken over, marching proudly, to Recruit Heaven to make calls and enjoy themselves.

The PFA is something that your future Sailor will do for the rest of their career. Twice a year in fact. This is true for both Active duty and drilling Reservists. Again, they must pass them. If they fail I believe they get two more tries or they can be subject robot are discharged. It all goes in their service record....but then so do the "atta boys" :-).

The actual numbers and times required are based on age parameters as well.

Yes, they need to pass all the individual aspects of the PFA-Physical Fitness Assessment. 

From the RTC website Recruit Life PT page:

To have the opportunity to run "battle stations" at the completion of training, receive your Navy ball cap, and graduate from RTC, you must pass a Navy Physical Fitness Assessment in your 6th week of training. Males will be expected to run 1.5 miles in under 12:15 perform 54 curl-ups and 46 push-ups in 2 minutes. Females will be expected to run 1.5 miles in under 14:45 perform 54 curl-ups and 20 push-ups in 2 minutes. You also must be within approved body composition measurements for your height and weight.

Battlestations- from what I read it is 12 hours overnight. So, if my SR tells me the date of Battlestations, should I assume it is going to be that night and I should get the call the day after the date he told me? Just trying to mark my calendar :)

chowdercall:  No, they MUST pass the final PFA (fitness test) in order to graduate.  Doesn't matter what they did on the first 2.  They have until BattleStations Day for their division to pass this and if not, they cannot do BattleStations.  They keep trying every 48 hrs (M W F).  They must pass by Wed of PIR week in order to be at their PIR.  They can do BattleStations the night before PIR in that case with the next PIR group and be at PIR.  If they have not passed by Wed of PIR week, they stay in FIT and keep tryiing (getting about 12 more tries).....they try 3 times a week.  When they pass, they do BattleStations and go to A School....no PIR then.  BUT they will probably get a bit of Liberty so if families are close enough to GL, they may get to see them.   Those who do not pass in the allotted number of tries are discharged....most of them usually pass from what we have read.

I have no idea. Honestly I thought they had to pass everything. I know my son was stressed durning his first call to me. He was not able to do all the push-ups, he was close. I told him he had time and to work on it, I told him it would happen! It had only been a 1 1/2 weeks. He said if he didn't pass the push-ups he would be set back.
