ProudNavyMom, I think you're right about the quals. They have to get qualified for many different things on the boat and get them signed off. Dolphins usually takes months, but quals for them must be done within a year; if not they go to the surface.
I hope all is well ProudNavyMom, and those prayers are continuing!!!!
shirl - if he this is his first underway, I doubt he has earned his fish yet - it usually takes a few months - but who knows! Let us know when he responds :-)
Navy Moms, If any of you has a son at Groton please contact me / message me I live just one hour from base so my son who is on the Virginia will be coming home for Thanksgiving. If any of your sons would like to join our family we cook big and would be happy to cook more and make enough to include any sailors who would like to join our (somewhat nutty?) family on this holiday.
I had 11 kids for Halloween, 7 more than last year. Six kids are my neighbors grandkids that come to her house (they live in an apartment). It was in the low 30's wind chills in the 20's, and rain with a chance of snow. I live in MI--last weekend it was almost 70. We use to have a ton of kids but like my own kids they are all grown up.
I live in Newtown, CT - the tradition here is to take the kids to main street to trick or treat - hence no one comes to the house!
My son, who also lives in Newtown with his kids, takes them to the neighborhood where we raised him (Danbury) - now I understand why we used to get over 100 kids - many whom we didn't recognize!
hello all!!
it isn't the same today going trick or treating as it was when I was younger growing up in the city. we would go all over. now you have to be so careful. I pray everyone stays safe and healthy!!
I hope people wised up and took their children to private parties or church sponsored Fall Festivals!!!
Who is letting the idiots run our country???
