My oldest Sailor son was promoted to 1st Class E6...HOOYAH. I called him to congratulate him and when he answered the phone he said hi mumma, and I congratulated him he said, "Thank you Mom" and laughed...I did good...; )

I am from that wonderful part of the world. Been there, done that. Grew up driving like everyone else, with a big orange flag on the top of my car so people could see you coming around the snowbank. Got into town most nights by skitching on the back of the bumper of the passing pick up truck. The most fun was jumping off a roof and flipping into the snow except when the snow blew up over the house and we had to go stay at a hotel for fear the roof would collapse. Yup, good times in Central New York...; ))

That's not my yard though it's Buffalo!  I got the photo from a weather blog I follow and Jeanette had mentioned doing the same thing.    Notice it is stocked with booze which makes it even funnier Lol.

I saw that particular coin and several others in the gift shop at the Submarine Museum in Groton and i thought i remembered that the gift shop also has an online store so i would think it would be there too. Check submarine museum groton gift shop for an online link

KKristen, for different types of challenge coins I usually go to the site medalsofamerica.com. They seem to have a good selection. Not sure of a Groton one.

William, love your new fridge.

Hi Rebecca, our sailor is going to deploy prior to the holidays also so I am filling his halfway box, which he will take with him when he leaves, with some Christmas gifts and bits of home. I know he probably won't open until after but it will put a smile on his face:)
