My ET son graduates A school 2/20 - has chosen the USS Truman. No official orders yet, and still has C school, but thought I'd join anyway. Hi! B'sNuke!!!!

Hi all. My son texted last night & he got orders to the Truman. He graduates nuclear prototype on 1/23 & has to report by 2/26. We live in SoCal. Looking forward to any tips you can share!

My son is IT and lives off base in an apartment with his new wife...  But if he can help (only been there since 1st of December), I'm sure he'd be happy to.  Let me know.

too tall joan,

If your daughter isn't going home for Thanksgiving we would be happy to invite her to come over to our house. We also invite the sailors over on the weekends for food, board games, movies, and a home to hang out in.  Let us know if she would be interested.

John & Yvonne Wagner that is so kind of you both to open your home that way. Thank you

Secrets22 glad you all found a good place to live. Sorry that you are homesick. It will be a fun Christmas with the little one. Enjoy every moment!

Shoreline apts in virginia beach is a really nice place. Close to everything, very safe, and close to the ship (I think a 15-20 min commute)

If anyone happens to know the name of a good neighborhood/area for my son and new bride to locate in (apartments or otherwise), I'd appreciate the info.  Once he gets there my understanding is that he'll be on a ship (in port) for a week or so, then gets a week to find housing.  They have no kids, so don't need to worry about schools, etc… but safety is important as it is with all our families.  Secrets22, it seems like you just did the looking/relocating.  Any info would be great.  Seems like they will be bringing her dog though. Might make it a tad more challening.  Thanks everyone.

To all you moms with Sons or Daughters on the Truman.

My husband and I would like to extend an invitation to any of them who don't have anywhere to go for Thanksgiving or for Christmas to come join us for dinner on those days. We have been in Va. Bch for the last 14 years inviting sailors, marines and soldiers over to our house on the weekends for food and board games. We understand that the holidays are the hardest because some of them can't go home. So please let us know if any of your "kids" would be interested.

Thanks,

Yvonne and John Wagner
