catching up again tonight:

Clovers R US 4H Club,

I would like to thank all of you for your hard work and generosity. We received at least 100 pillow cases from you all just a few weeks ago. My shipmates and I are currently deployed, and sometimes we are underway for long periods of time. To some this may seem like a small kind gesture. However, the comfort in knowing there are people back home thinking of us is a huge moral booster and keeps us all going. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers, and can’t wait to be home. Thank you all!

God Bless, OS2 (SW) Sheena

To all,

I received a “patriotic” pillow case with a letter from Ty, who is in the 7th grade and turns 13 this month, and is part of the Clovers-R-Us-4-H Club, Dundy County (Benkelman), NE.

I want to write and personally thank each and every one of you for what you do.  Your compassion and effort is truly appreciated!  I am a Navy Chief Warrant Officer with 19 years of active service, and I am currently on my 6th deployment.

It can be very difficult to be away from our families and friends, particularly during the holiday seasons, and oftentimes morale can get low.  I know I can speak for everyone in my unit when I say your kind gestures and pillowcases help to bring smiles to our faces; and really do make a difference!

This email cannot express my gratitude, but I just wanted to say thanks J, and God bless you all!

Sincerely,  Jonathon  CWO2  U.S. Navy

The pillowcases were entered into their county fair:

Heads at ease,

Thank you for the beautiful pillow case, I think it is an inspired idea. I received a blue and yellow with a flowery edging pillowcase made by Mrs. Shirley S, Thank you ma’am! It reminds me of my linen back home. Thank you ladies for taking an interest in the troops abroad!

Thank you very much for the pillow cases that you sent for me and my
Marines.  They loved them and it really adds that little touch of home
that we all miss.  Thank you for the support and thinking about us while
we are so far away from family.

MSgt Anthony

Good Evening,

At the end of my shift at work this evening I was surprised by
the cutest present throughout this whole deployment, a pillowcase. It
reminded me of home and it such a great reminder of everyone back at the
rear rooting us on. The USS Makin Island and USS San Diego has not
touched land in over 60 days, so getting a small gift that makes us
reminisce of home is such a refreshing feeling. Thank you for thinking
of all of us, Marines and Sailors, out here fighting the good fight.

V/R,   Cpl T.

To Cindy S,

I would like to send my sincere thanks to whomever made my pillow case.
It is an awesome idea. Feel free to write back. I appreciate your
support.

Thank you   Sincerely , Ricardo

Thank you guys so much for the pillow cases!

I can’t properly describe the happiness that your pillowcases brought to the guys in my unit. Morale has been pretty low lately and I must say that your gifts have brought smiles to many faces.

If it matters my case came from a Marilu  from Conroe, TX and I love it.

Thank you guys again so much!    Trevin

Dear Ladies of Heads at Ease,

I wanted to take a moment to simply say thank you. First on a
personal note for the wonderful personalized pillow case you made for
me. It is truly a gift that I will cherish. Most importantly however, I
want to say thank you for all that you do for ALL service members and
especially for the Marines and sailors of the 11th Marine Expeditionary
Unit.

Your time and effort has been appreciated by all and I think
that each and every one of us are a little happier inside knowing that
we have all of you thinking of us.

Thank you and Semper Fidelis

Troy   Sergeant Major  11th Marine Expeditionary Unit

Thanks Maryellen for making those personalized pcs!  They look great!

WARNING!  get a tissue box-this made me cry!

To the mothers and members of Heads at Ease,

My name is Capt M and I am currently deployed with VMM-163(REIN) on
the 11the Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). We left San Diego at the end
of July, so a few months ago. I have spent the last couple months aboard
this ship with little to complain about. Since I fly helicopters I am
lucky enough to sometimes leave the confines of the ship's skin.  Every
once in a while we have the opportunity to do cargo runs to pick up
priority parts, people and mail. Mail is the lowest priority so when
space is available we will pick up as much mail as we can. I take pride
in knowing that sometimes a day's mission might be hours of sitting in a
hot aircraft loading and moving cargo but might ultimately mean somebody
receives a package from home. Every mission regardless of what we move
is important. I have personally picked up pallets of mail for Sailors
and Marines from loved ones back home and seen the joy it brings them.
Sometimes it's pictures from their family back home, a book, candy or
any number of things from home. Everybody does not receive a package but
it is always good to receive them. When we hear "Mail Call" on the
intercom, the thought of possibly receiving a package from home, of
anything that we can't get here on the ship, pops into everyone's head.
It is like waking up for Christmas or a birthday not knowing if you have
presents but the possibility that you might is exciting enough.

end part 1

Part 2 - I had to split this to post it:

So on this particular day last week, I walked into my office and heard
Marines talking about what they received in  the mail. My Sergeant said
that something came in the mail for me. I was surprised since I wasn't
expecting anything but happy. He then handed me a pillow case. This
particular pillow case is black with white paw prints. The end has a
blue border with pictures of little cats and dogs. I quickly thought
about my mother's dog and my sister's dog. I don't have a dog back home
but I did as a kid. It was such a nice gesture and so unexpected and
random. I thank you for that. The brief flashbacks of home, of my dog as
a kid, of my family was all brought upon by this simple pillowcase. I
say simple, but in fact it is not a simple pillowcase. I know that not
everybody will use their pillowcase to cover their pillows. Some will
since the pillowcases here have been reused from countless deployments.
In fact, I might use mine to help wipe the sweat during missions, since
I usually carry a bandanna and it's getting old. I might use it to clean
the windshields from dust and sea spray. I like to see outside the
windshields when we fly. I might even use it a pillowcase. Regardless of
how it use it, I think it will be put to good use. I can say that they
all will be put to good use.

I read the little yellow paper inside and realized that my pillowcase in
particular was made by "Cindy S". Thank you Cindy S.

On behalf of the Ch-53E Super Stallion Detachment I would like to say
"Thank you for all that your group does". My Marines are especially
appreciative of the time you have spent thinking about us. Thank you. I
cannot say it it enough.

V/R
Capt M

Navy Moms,

I would like to say you’re welcome and most importantly, THANK YOU for sending the pillowcases.  The Sailors and Marines here were all enthused while choosing a pillowcase that fits their character.  Being from the South (Alabama), I personally picked the one with the mason jars on them made by Mrs. Barbara P.  The pillowcases will definitely make a difference visually and mentally for everyone.  Once again, thank you for your support.

I saw you’re from Arizona, so am i! have you always lived in show low? I hope to hear back from you soon!

ThankYou,  Shelbi☺

Sarah,

Thank you for the pillowcase with the bicycles on it. I will use it as
my couch pillow, which will get a lot of use and be a reminder of your
care and concern.
