Hello everyone my name is Brandi. My son just left for boot camp on December 10th. I have to say it was a tough day for me. I just received his box with all of his things. Can't wait until that next phone call.

Thank you for the warm welcome. My son leaves Monday at 10:00. He says he wants to ride the bus because he thinks his dad will take a wrong turn and not get him there on time, haha. I kinda think he doesn't want us to go so he doesn't have to see me sad. As much as I want to go see him off, I will respect his wishes. As many moms, the fact I can't check in with him is gonna kill me! I'm so glad I found this website, it has helped me a lot already.

Thank you for the welcome.  My husband was in the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg back in the 80's, so I have an idea of military life.  My younger brother recently retired after 20 years in the Army.  I am unfamiliar with the Navy.  But I have been reading a lot of your posts and have even printed what happens at RTC.  I am trying to learn the new lingo.  Will hope for the best for my son.

Thank you to everyone who has replied to my questions. This site is very helpful however I still have problems inviting friends. I don't know anyone so not quite sure who to invite. If anyone son/daughter leaves for boot camp tomorrow the 24th it would be great if they could send me a friend request. I would love to keep in touch and see how your son/daughter is making out. Thank you!!!!

Hi Tiffany~ Thank you for the warm welcome! I am glad to be on board. . .Looking forward to sharing throughout my daughter's journey. She is currently in the Delayed Program and will not leave for boot camp until May 19, 2015.  I will keep you posted and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions and happy to be part of your group.

Hi not sure if this is the right place to post this. My son is in Pensacola and we had some drama yesterday. My husband received a call yesterday from someone claiming to be a military Sargent stating that our son was in jail and we needed to post $15.000 for bail.He claimed that our son was in a car with 3 other boys and they found drugs in the car. They said our son was in the back seat and tested negative for drug use, but because of Florida laws just being with someone who has drugs will ensure your arrest. He proceeded to tell my husband what to do to get him out, he was asked to go to CVS and purchase a green dot card so money could be transferred. He ended the call when my husband asked to speak to his son. Well my husband was very upset and shaken by this and didn't know what was going on and what to believe.Prior to this my son had texted me pics of his room and uniform. So I knew this was not likely true but very alarming. We were able to talk to our son and confirm this was a scam. My husband said the phone call was extremely professional and this person had a lot of info about our son. So please be warned there is a scam going on and I would hate for anyone to have to go thru what we went thru yesterday. We called our local police and my son's recruiter to report this. We asked our son to report this to his superior which he did.

Thanks for the welcome Tiffany.  I'm going to do a refresher on the "dos and donts."  Loose lips, etc.  These days of social media you have to be very careful.

I'm happy to have found this site through another Navy mom and look forward to making connecting with the many many women who have sons/daughters in the Navy!
