Wonderful heyma!  Yes, I thought your SR had been in the 11/21 group so knew there would be no PIR.  So proud of your son!

This week's PIR group has finished BattleStations (their PIR is tomorrow rather than Fri), but it is possible that NEXT week's could be starting them tonight?   Don't think they would do them tomorrow night or Thurs night because of Thanksgiving....but regardless, he will get through them and be able to call you again!  He will be entitled to some Liberty after BattleStations....do you live close enough to visit with him on short notice?

Good morning, got a call from my son yesterday around 2:00pm and HE PASSED THE RUN!!!  So excited for him.  He said he was going into battlestations with this week's PIR group and would be put in Ship 5/ THU division to await his orders for A school.  He will not be participating in their PIR however, which I expected. He didn't know anything past that since he called immediately after passing the run.

We'd like to head to Great Lakes to be with him for Thanksgiving, but won't know if that's possible until I get the I'm a sailor call, hopefully later today.

Thanks to everyone for the advice, kind words, and paryers; you are special and amazing both collectively and individually.

I found a post on N4M from about 3 years ago.  It's a quote from Michael Jordan:

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career.  I've lost almost 300 games.  26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed.  I've failed over and over and over again in my life.  And that is why I succeed."

I'm including this in today's letter to my son.  :)

Hi heyma313,  Good news on the swim.  My prayers go out for both our sons as they run today.

Good Morning heyma3 13,, He passes his run today he has his PIR as normal. If he does not pass his run, he will have about 4 weeks to pass it, 2 or 3 times a week they will let him run it. When he passes he will go directly to Aschool. If he does not pass it he will be sent home,, and if he wants to go back in and try again he will have to wait 6 months and get a waiver. I hope this helps,,, sounds very cold but I do not want to sugar coat things so you know exactly what is going on..

odds are he'll move to his A school base and be in holding. he's no longer a great lake asset after boot.... they'd send him to his school base.

Good Morning All, My son called last night to say he passed his swim test and would have his last run test today in order to do battlestations this week. He called his gf and was hoping to get to call me, but no such luck.He told her that if he didn't pass the run test today he would not be going to A school until January. Is that accurate? where would he go in the meantime? Would he be sent home or stay at RTC? More confusion :-(
