What do they have them do at A school if they don't take leave?

The Sailors have watch and cleaning and the things they do when on HOLD any time of the year.

The Sailors are also able to have Liberty on some days.

Will we know with enough time to schedule flights to see them if they will just have a few days liberty? I don't know how long it would take for him to fly from Charleston to Los Angeles.

Thank you for your help!

If he only has Liberty and not Leave, then he cannot fly anywhere. If he has Leave he will be able to schedule the flights.

I have a blog about the difference between leave and liberty, and what travel is and is not allowed.

http://navyformoms.com/profiles/blogs/leave-vs-liberty

How quickly do they find out after completing the chit form if they got approved leave?

Pretty quickly.

Question? .............. during stand down, will my daughter be able to come home, her PIR is 01/16/15 but before she left her recruiter said to us, that she might get to fly home for Christmas have 5 days to work at the local office and five days leave.......

If she is in boot camp, she does not participate in the stand down.  That is for sailors in A or C school only.

Once she is finished with boot camp and A school, she will likely have a chance to take leave and come home.  She can work at the recruiter office during that time.  They can't work at the recruiter office during the stand down anyway, the program does not allow that.  I have no idea why the recruiter said she could fly home during boot camp.  The Army does that, but never the Navy.

sigh, he said it.........I was standing there when he said it..... thanks for the information, was a nice thought though.

I believe you, but find it very confusing he would have said such a thing.   Makes me a bit angry, a recruiter should know better.

Her division will probably get adopted for the day by a church group, so at least may have a chance to call on someone's cellphone.  I hope that happens for you, that would be nice!

Makes me a bit angry too....... She's in the Navy now. I do hope she get adopted for the day, she's a lovable person. I can't wait to hear her voice. All I want for Christmas is to hear her voice. Thank  you for your help.
