Think my eyes are playing tricks on me... Does the Countdown Counter above really have single digits under the "days" remaining???? I think the last time I posted it had just slid under 30!!!

Kimberly:  They must phase up to wear "civies."  Takes 2-3 weeks usually.  There are some fast food places on A School base for them to eat at.

See the link below (scroll down to restaurants).  Hoping this is current, but not positive?

As far as a gift card for clothes, you can give him a NEX card to shop at the Navy Exchange (cheaper pricing on clothing) or....there is a Gurnee Mills Mall nearby that they like to visit.  Lots of stores there so you could give him a card for some stores there too (they like to get Sarge's group to take them there....they go in groups so it is not so expensive!).  They have a huge Bass Pro Shop there also!

Kimberly68,,, there is always Walmart,  and I know there is Panera, KFC, Starbucks, those are nearby.  You can google the Great Lakes area and look for stores and restaurants too.  :) hope this helps

My SR has a MacBook Pro he loves it. I will be bringing it to the airport for him. They are quite pricey but well worth the cost, It's a real investment. They last forever! I still have mine from ten years ago

Matilda04038,

Thanks for the suggestion.  My SR had asked for a MacBook so I'm glad to hear this.  I'll definitely look at BestBuy. :-)

Mitchels mom,   I checked with a friend who is in the Navy, he loves his macbook,   suggested a hard drive to download movies on , he said it was the only way to survive on deployment,   the guy at bestbuy suggested wireless earphones with noise blockers (Bose , $300) which makes sense.   Macs are on sale at BestBuy right now.   other brands are on sale a lot cheaper.      If you buy at best buy and don't open it , you can return it through Jan 15?

my SR is also 04  038
