Hang in there, Tysmom. Focus on the memories you've just made, while he was home. I know it's easier said then done. My son will be home foe Christmas, & already, I've thought about, how I'll manage when the time comes for him to leave. I hate myself for thinking that way, but I can't help it, he's not even here yet. This site is the only place I can say that, hoping that other moms will get how I feel.

I am going to try NOT to cry while fixing breakfast for the fam. In about 3 1/2 hours my sailor leaves.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Short Story: On Nov 19 around 11 am my husband textes me to say he was having something delivered, What? A dishwasher says he...WHY say I.

We have no room in our kitchen for a portable dishwasher....I want you to know I was just a brumming(Dutch word) to a friend of mine ( and my husband was sure I was not happy)....I had just drove in our driveway when another vehicle drove in. I thought it was someone with a donation for the food ministry.....I got out of my car and there stood my sailor!!!! They all knew and kept it from ME!!!!

The night before he was texting me and asked how the weather was...horrible and what was I doing tomorrow and I said to him...Are you coming home tomorrow???Who me??? Well he was packed and almost on his way and laughing...And I was of course taping and painting more wood work.

It was great having him here and as with all things he has to go back tomorrow)>:  I fixed a lot of his favorite food...he wanted home cooking....He spent time with his older brother....We had Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday at an Aunts...met with the relatives....

With the surprise we did not have time to add Christmas to the list.....cannot do it all...

Oh the dishwasher, it is defective....does not do dishes...so I was thinking of personally taking it back to Hawaii!!!!! LOL

Happy Thanksgiving all! We are so blessed to live in this great country!

I am a very proud Mom tonight. My son just texted me and said that he got a commendation letter today at a ceremony and it was signed by Rear Admiral Sawyer! For setting a new standard of clean on the sub during their last underway!! If I only could have seen the floor of his room when he lived with us! How they do grow up! He said he was bored during underway, and after all that cleaning he would try not to get that bored again!  :)  All you MOMs please have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families!!

Thank you Storymom for always posting your messages :-)

Happy Thanksgiving Mom's! I know some of us our sad and missing our boys but we have so many blessings to be thankful for. I know they'll be well fed and have plenty of company with their buddies, so try not to fret or worry how they're doing. I haven't heard from my son in almost a month :-( Yes I'm bummed and I have no idea what he's up to but as long as he's safe and sound that's all that matters.

God Bless all our men and women who are protecting us and keeping watching over us while we celebrate with our family and friends tomorrow and everyday!

ProudNavyMom#1 - it's a journey not only for our Navy boys and girls but for the family that is left behind.  It took him being in the Navy at least two years before I got used to holidays without him.  In fact, my husband and I just started traveling over Christmas because it's so different now.  Last year we went on a cruise and were in the Turks and Caicos on Christmas Day.  It was 85 degress and we loved it!  LOL - but this year, it's home with all the decorations.  I can't wait!  And yes, for the first time we have to share him with a girlfriend.  She's from home and they've been getting close over the last year or so and she actually went with us to visit him in Hawaii in July.  We really like her and we really like how his thought process of staying in longer or going overseas again has suddenly changed and he may end up trying to get closer to home on his next tour.
