I'm starting to freak out a little bit. He said they'd be going to the local VFW and he'd call me for Thanksgiving/

Today's thankful thoughts reflect on the wonderful admins and members if this and many other groups. I would have been lost with no idea where to turn for comfort and answers. New friendships have been made. I just talked to my SR and he found peace and humor in knowing his fellow SR told him their moms are BFF through these websites.
Thank you all. Much love and appreciation.
Happy Thanksgiving.

My son walked last weekend into A School in GL with a duffle bag and 2 plastic bags the day after PIR. Then Saturday he went shopping to Walmart and all was put in plastic bags. There should be no problem. Your sailor must let them check the bags before they are allowed into the barracks. Take everything he asked for, he will have enough room for everything. I took a full size luggage with all his stuff and he kept it all. He also asked for a warm blanket and was able to keep it in his closet and use it at night.

I am now one happy Momma. My son just called he went to the VFW and is having a great time said there was a line of SR's waiting to use the phone watch for area code 630 !!!!

FIBroomie:  I sure hope your SR changed his mind and joined his shipmates for a community celebration.  Unless he was looking forward to the "quiet" to study and get some rest with his shipmates not there?  I could actually understand that and that may be exactly what he "craves" today.  Bootcamp has way too much TOGETHERNESS!  :-)  I hope you hear from him.

Hang in there....I like that he said he wanted to study...shows he is still working very hard to become a sailor!  I hope that you can enjoy yours day, knowing that you will have a wonderful celebration in just a week!  :-)

honor.courage.commitment:  Hoping that your SR is able to call today too!  Remember, it probably will be from a borrowed cellphone so answer all calls today!  Check your SR's FB page to, and your email.  Some may be able to borrow computers from those who are sponsoring them today at the community Thanksgiving Celebrations so there may be messages to loved ones!
