Riley's mom, I bought a gift for my sailor today from the NEX site and had to make an account first that included my DOD ID number. After that is done it's really easy to buy. I don't think a civilian can buy from that site.

Dinky, yes, Prototype 1404. My son is a MM. First seven weeks done and know on to shifts. Two tests done, one electronic and one written. My son said the whole class did well. I'm glad to know someone with a sailor in the same class. I will be happy to share the bits and pieces of information I receive from my son. My son says everyone is under a lot of stress but handling the best they can. I know mine was behind the curve for the first five weeks, now he's ahead and still stressed. With the 50% test already scheduled they are feeling the pressure. There's a lot of praying to do before the end of the year. The graduation still scheduled for March 27th. Will keep you posted :)

Hello Nuke moms. I have a question I'm hoping to get some help with. I'm on the NEX site and had the idea to purchase a gift card for my son for Christmas. Do any of you know if a civilian can purchase a gift card from this site? I'm having some trouble, I will call customer service tomorrow but thought I would check to see if anyone has done this. Also if I'm unable to purchase a gift card from the NEX does anyone know if the NEX accepts VISA (like a visa gift card)? Much appreciated.

I'm not sure but I thought your son Graduated Power School with mine? Is he at GC or balston spa? If they are in the same class I can keep you posted. Mine graduated Power School 8-1.

BoyWonderMom, glad you got him home for Thanksgiving! I think mine is in the same class. 1404? He tells me nothing, so if it is the same class I'll be following your comments closely :)

Happy Sunday Navy Family. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
My son just left to go back to Goose Creek. He was here for about four days and this time spent almost all the time at home with us. Friends coming in and out to see him, as always a full house when he's in town. We had a great thanksgiving celebration. He won't be back home for a while now. He just finished the first seven weeks of proto, tomorrow is the start of shifts. Six to six. Did good in his first two tests and his 50% test is scheduled for December 30th. Praying everyday for everyone's success. :)

We had snow and the electric power went out last night at 9 PM while our son called from Hawaii where his submarine just arrived.  It came on again around 11 AM this morning.  He called from his house in Hawaii but is eating Thanksgiving dinner on the sub today because he has duty.

Sending Happy Thanksgiving greetings to all of you from here in cold snowy Minnesota.  8 inches of the white stuff yesterday.

I am very thankful for living in this great United States of America.  And thankful also for our military branches watching over us.  God Bless you all !
