We heard from ours as well. It made my birthday and Thanksgiving. They took off early this morning. Don't forget to send them goodie packages. Was told early this morning from our son that they would not get any packages or mail until late December (After Christmas). Have a great weekend everyone!

Sent my son back, today, after a short visit. We were there, in Mayport, for homecoming. Awesome!
How do you Moms feel when you send them back? My boy has been away from home almost 2 years, and I still get so weepy when he leaves. (sigh)
Hope everyone is enjoying time with the kids when they are home.

My son flew out in December. He seems tired but excited. Can't wait to hear about his adventures. I am on the Ombudsmans page and the family readyness page and that has helped alot! Not sure this is any easier then when he was in Afghanistan.

Thank you PatriciaT thats encouraging information. My son just flew out today to meet up with the ship. I'm excited for him but also nervous. I hope he has a great experience. I will find the ombudsman on Facebook thank you

This is the 2nd deployment for my son.  He had a great time the last time and it seems he's enjoying it so far this time--although we don't hear from him very often.  On the last go around, he took advantage of every opportunity to see the sights when in port.  This trip sounds like it's different in that they've been at sea for a long stretch of time.  Their CO seems to do a great job in keeping morale up with occasional steel beach parties and various contests.  If you're not already part of the ombudsman's facebook then you might want to consider it.  There's so much more activity there than here these days.

Please don't' worry about them.  I know---it's easier said than done!  But they've trained for this and they are good at what they do!

We'll certainly miss them at our Thanksgiving tables, won't we?!
