Hope everyone servived Thanksgiving and had a blessed day.. I worked and tried to keep busy. It was hard not having my son here but I know he is doing what he has dreamed of since he was 3. It was either garbage man or military, glad he chose the NAVY. He was so facinated with the garbage man. Too funny, he would kill me if he knew I told anyone..  HA HA Well hope maybe we can have a get-to-gether in the future.

Hi jermom! I am in Wayne county also. My son is a hospital corpsman stationed at Great Lakes working in the clinic in the other side of bootcamp, but he is currently deployed for operation unity assistance. Welcome to our group.

Hi everyone! I just found this on NFM. I live in Wayne County and my son is in week 3 at Great Lakes. He is going to go Nuke ( so far- hard program). He had 3 years at RIT in Rochester before BC.

Dogs on Deployment: Looking for a boarder for 2 senior bull terriers in Downstate NY/Long Island. One is going deaf, but follows the other around. This is a year long commitment from January 2015-February 2016. I am waiting on a poster to be made to share, but in the meantime, I am trying to get the word out. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please share with anyone who might be interested. They can apply to be a foster home online at DogsonDeployment.org or contact me with any questions.

I've been reading this group's comments, but farely silent.  I live in Buffalo (suburb though).  My son came home last Wednesday after completing C School at Corry Station, Pensacola.  He gave me 9 days notice and got married last Saturday.  They were supposed to do it next summer but "moved it up."  Now he leaves on Thanksgiving afternoon to start the drive to Norfolk.  Glad the storm hit now instead of next week (hopefully it's run its course).  Our area (Amherst) got about a foot or so.  Most of my friends 15-20 minutes from me got 6 FEET and are still stuck.  I work for a school so have been off work all week.  Most driving bans have been lifted late this afternoon.  If anyone is in my area and needs help… please send me a message.

Thanks guys!  I'm just outside of that snow zone & luckily just caught the beginning of the storm on the way home from Great Lakes. But if anyone else on here is in it, let me know if you need anything! I've heard of many people needing foster care for their pets. I'm not too far from you.
