Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Read through this site and you will see we all have good days and not so good days, but it does get better, at least for me, it did. My SR left 9/23, and his PIR is two weeks from today. This site is a lifeline that helped me a lot. Right now I am looking forward to seeing him in two weeks, but I know seeing him leave for "A" school that weekend is going to be tough. At least then I will be able to have more contact with him. Remember this is a grieving process for the life you lived up until now, and be gentle on yourself. Also remember that this is the true start of his adult life and be happy and proud for him.

Hi Proud Mom my son left yesterday also. I received a call from his recruiter today stating that his PIR date will be 12/31/14. Have you been told this same thing? I am just questioning it because the 31st is a Wednesday and is only 6 1/2 weeks away. I am also very sad, cannot even go in his room as it make me start to cry again. I am so very proud of him and I am trying to be strong for him but this has been so hard. This site has really helped me, I have spent most of the day reading any and everything possible to gain as much information which has made me feel better. Take care and if you have any information to share please post as I think our son's will be in the same PIR group.

My daughter left for the hotel on Nov 24 but left for Bootcamp on Nov 25. I miss her so much. She told me 4 other boys were leaving with her. That made me feel better that she wasn't alone.

My son left Tuesday and I seem to break down several times a day. Today is less than yesterday but the emptiness is unreal. I didn't expect it to be like this and pray it gets better. How is your son doing? You?

I understand how you feel. My daughter left for Bootcamp on Nov 25 and I just received her box today. Just wish there was a note from her. I to miss my daughter so much. I really hope it gets easier. I can't wait to get a letter from her. I want to know how she's doing.

Hang in there - it does start to get easier each passing day. Our son

I just received my "I'm here" phone call 13 hours ago....I could tell he was trying to be strong but heard the fear and sadness in his voice. That is the hardest part for me....not being able to make it better. I think as moms we don't know how to let go of that instinct in us. Right now I am terribly depressed and cry at such simple things. I read here that it gets better so I am really hoping so....especially for him. If I know my son is happy and safe it will do wonders for my state of mind.
