aj2daway, a lot of people from this group are also a part of the Facebook page Guam Mom and Families....Thelma is the admin and it is a wonderful group. Lots of info shared on that page....check it out.

p.s. i wish that I had thought to join here sooner as we got a total runaround with ATT that we could use their service, etc. In spite of my disbelief, they still assured us it was doable. Lo and behold, we should not have upgraded his phone as he did have to get local service. The one good thing that they did was to suspend his service until he gets back. Very grateful for that.

Another question- how long does it usually take packages to get there? From the time of the APO box to the base, specifically.

Hi y'all from Georgia! just wanted to intro myself. My YN has been in Guam a total of 6 weeks with 2.5 years to go. I just wanted to replug back into the Navy Moms so I don't miss anything. He is not likely to be home at anytime soon as the tickets are so costly. Yikes. Is this group pretty active is my only question?

Thank you.  My sailor did take her Navy issued gear, including her pea coat.  Her vehicle is being shipped and the plan is to send her dog later in the year.  She is a corpsman and assigned to the hospital. She was not expecting an overseas deployment as her first orders were FMTB then changed within a few days. It is hard to have her first assignment be so far away.

Adoptivemama, My son has been in Guam for 18 months and loves it.  As justJo has stated it's warm so summer clothing is a must, but make sure he takes anything Navy issued for inspections, even the winter pea coat. Hope this helps.

Adoptivemama, my son has been in Guam almost 2 yrs now... It's never cold there, always tropical humid and warm. My son has one light jacket he wears when he comes home, San Diego because it's cold for him here the fist few hours. Pack summer clothes, flip flops n sun screen! Hope your son loves the ocean. My son is a diver there and he loves the diving there!
